Jennifer Aniston's heartbreak over her pal Matthew Perry's sudden death has been revealed

Jennifer Aniston "cried herself to sleep" over Matthew Perry's death and knew he "carried a flame" for her, it has been claimed almost two weeks after his death.

The Chandler Bing actor, 54, was found dead in his Los Angeles home on October 28. The beloved American-Canadian star, who is most famed for his role in the US sitcom Friends, was found after he reportedly drowned in his hot tub, with his cause of death still unknown.

Laid to rest last Friday, Matthew's funeral service, which was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, was attended by his heartbroken co-stars, including Jennifer Aniston who "felt the loss more than most".

Speaking to New Magazine, a source revealed that the Rachel Green star, who has felt the loss very deeply, "cried herself to sleep" after finding out about Matthew's passing. The source went on to reveal: "Jen knows Matt always carried a flame for her. That's why she kept in touch with him for so many years. Matt was besotted with Jen for years and I think that, at the back of his mind, he hoped one day his feelings would be reciprocated."

They added that Jen never saw him as anything more than a friend, but affirmed that she cared for him "deeply" and would phone him often to make sure he was taking care of himself and staying clean after his battle with addiction. Matthew even previously paid tribute to Jen after she actively supported him through his struggles.

"Everyone wishes they could turn back the clock and give him a call or arrange a meet up for coffee," the source went on to reveal to the outlet, with them even then explaining how an annual get-together is in talks for the Friends cast to meet up and remember their late co-star. Touching on Jen's heartbreak, the source also spoke of the "strong bond" that she and Matthew had, with him being one of her "favourites" from the cast. "She loved the sparkle in his eye and his unique way of seeing the world," they went on. It was also claimed that Jennifer "really needs him now to help her get through this".
