In a new Halloween episode, Lisa Simpson is all grown-up and evil

The Simpsons have seemingly killed off a legendary and long-standing character for good after a shock murder spree ensued in Springfield over the Halloween period.

In the latest spooky Halloween episode of the hit American animated sitcom, Lisa Simpson turned into a murderer in a shock twist. Going on a killing spree, the sweet character that we all know and love ends up murdering a well-known and long-standing character, leaving fans going wild.

In the episode, which was titled Treehouse of Horror, the iconic character, Sideshow Bob, who had been after Lisa's brother Bart for many years, gets what's coming to him. Voiced by Frasier star Kelsey Grammer, Sideshow Bob has been after Bart since 1990.

Lisa Simpson seemingly went on a killing spree in one of the new Halloween episodes of the hit animated sitcom

The pair's quarrel began when Bob tried to frame Krusty the Klown and it backfired. Taking aim at Bart's family when it all went up in flames, Bob nearly killed his aunt Selma.

But in the new episode, Bart’s sister Lisa finally puts an end to the storyline that sees her brother as Bob's target after he gets hold of Bart. Grown-up and working as a true crime expert in the episode, Lisa hires Bob to help her solve crime cases by getting into the mind of a murderer.

It is then revealed that Lisa has a split personality, which leads to her killing Bob, and in turn, leaving fans of the hit show going wild. Taking to social media, fans couldn't contain their excitement for the shocking plot that had twists and turns galore, all in the name of Halloween.

Sideshow Bob was killed off in a shock twist

"Lisa and Sideshow Bob? BRILLIANT," penned one fan on social media platform X, which was formerly known as Twitter. Another said: "Omg, evil Lisa is so GOOD she is more scary than Sideshow Bob. I always wanted to see evil Lisa, thank you!"

A third person then penned: "I just watched the darkest @TheSimpsons #THOH sketch ever. That Lisa Simpson Sideshow Bob thing. Wow." While a fourth said: "No way Lisa kills Sideshow Bob." And a fifth said: "A neat Silence of the Lambs parody bringing back Sideshow Bob and Lisa's split personality with a shocking amount of gore (even for me)."
