Celine Dion has performed publicly for first time in three years after her terrifying health diagnoses.

The 55-year-old is said to have "sang a few notes" when she went to an NHL game in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to watch Vegas Golden Knights go up against her hometown team the Montreal Canadians. This comes after opening up in December 2022 about being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, which is a rare neurological disease which causes severe spasms.

Just two years before she had to cancel her Courage World Tour due to ill health. Chantal Machabée, who is the team's VP of hockey communications revealed that Celine treated them to a performance.

Chantal told People this week about the "incredible" moment. She said: "It was an incredible moment. She’s an amazing woman. She’s been through a lot, and to see her like this and smiling and being so happy… it’s amazing. I know she has good days and not so good days, but this was a very good day, and it was reassuring."

It was in December that the superstar opened up about her diagnoses of the rare autoimmune movement disorder that affects the central nervous system. At this present moment there is no cure for the disorder, which can leave people as human statues.

Speaking in a video at the time, she said: "Recently I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called stiff-person syndrome which affects something like one in a million people. While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having.

"Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to. For me to reach you again I have no choice but to concentrate on my health at this moment and I have hope that I’m on the road to recovery. This is my focus and I’m doing everything I can to recuperate."

Stiff person syndrome (SPS) is a rare autoimmune neurological disorder that most commonly causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms that come and go and can worsen over time. However, some people experience other symptoms such as an unsteady walking, double vision or slurred speech.

Over time people with SPS may develop hunched over postures while some people may be too disabled to walk or move. Many people fall frequently because they do not have the normal reflexes to catch themselves which can lead to serious injuries.

The disorder tends to affect more females than males and patents tend to notice symptoms when they are between 40-60-years-old. Life expectancy can vary, with those diagnosed living between 6-28 years after.
