A family who were named and shamed after an alleged “dine and dash” where they fled a £260 pub bill have now paid up.

The group of 12 adults and kids at the popular Cornwall pub, Britannia Inn and Waves, were caught on camera indulging in plates including a £25 rump steak and a £17.50 lasagne. They washed them down with four pints of Madri lager at £6.20 each, and 10 pints of Stella Artois lager, at a cost of £5.90 per drink.

A picture of the receipt also showed kids meals of sausage and chips, penne pasta and chicken nuggets, as well as £3 pepper sauce for the steak. And after staff posted the CCTV images on Facebook leading to the party being identified, the bill has now been paid.

The pub thanked people for sharing their post that led to the "scammers" being identified. A Facebook post read: "MASSIVE THANK YOU AGAIN !! To everyone for sharing our posts & for contacting us with info on last weeks scammers. You really have played your part in highlighting some less desirable people we live amongst in our community.

The pub claimed that the group had waited for the staff to be out of the room before they all heading for the exit and that it appeared as if they were taking their children to the play area. Their posts appealing to the public were shared thousands of times by the public.
