Maura Higgins admits awkward reunion with Love Island ex Curtis Pritchard
Maura Higgins has teased she has an awkward reunion with boyfriend Curtis Pritchard on new reality show Love Island Games.
The 32-year-old Irish bombshell was a contestant on Love Island back in 2019 where she coupled up with 27-year-old Curtis in a move that baffled fans at the time. But despite their best efforts, the relationship collapsed several months later.
The pair, who have not spoken since their frosty split, came face to face again at spin-off series Love Island Games which sees various OG contestants from international versions of the show gathering together to compete in challenges and hope to land a new romance at the same time.
While Curtis is competing on the show, Maura was given the role of social media host - after impressing on the US version of the ITV2 dating show.
During an appearance on Kem Cetinay's Capital FM show, Maura admitted that she and Curtis did not have the easiest of reunions.

Maura and Curtis met on Love Island in 2019 and were reunited on a spin off show this year (ITV)Addressing the elephant in the room, Kem said on his Capital Late Show with Kem Cetinay: “And obviously we see some familiar faces from the UK Love Island.” To which Maura joked: “Maybe too familiar?”
Kem went on: “I couldn't believe it to be fair... Curtis, your ex, I would say ex?” And Maura quipped: “Would you?” Pressing on further, Kem continued: “Well, we have to say ex really nowadays. By your reaction, it was a bit of a weird one, wasn't it?”
Maura then bit and replied: “I think everyone... do you know what, like, everyone's very excited about this because obviously they know that I would have had to interview him like, if he gets dumped from the show or if he makes the final. So yeah, we could have a run in there. So yeah, I mean, I don't know how much I can say but ....it was interesting.
Curtis is still looking for love on the Love Island Games (ITV)Kem teased: “I’m sure there will be an interview at one point…” And Maura confirmed: “Yeah, there is an interview. Like, I don't really know if I can say that or not. But I mean, there is an interview and I'm trying to think back like how it went like I think it was okay, I think I was nice. I think. I think there might have been moments where I wasn't too... polite, but I think I made it more of a joke.”
Maura and Curtis’s break up was relatively messy - as the relationship collapsed amid rumours he had cheated on her with dancer Amber Pierson. While Curtis denied that was the case, Maura was left enraged when she saw photos of him snogging her weeks after they broke up.
She lashed out via X: "The truth always comes out in the end,” before liking a number of tweets which branded her ex ‘cheating’ and ‘a villain’. And another tweet that the reality star liked at the time stated: “@CurtisPritchard another cheating f**ker from the shady world of strictly.”
Kem Cetinay, who was himself a Love Island winner back in 2017 when he won while partnered with Welsh beauty Amber Davies - only for their relationship to collapse too after five months, is another of the supporting host of the new show - which is helmed by Maya Jama and filmed in Fiji earlier this year.
