The Voice's Emma Willis' brave admission about her difficult marriage to Matt

TV presenter Emma Willis says she'll never leave her pop star husband Matt despite his battles with addiction. Emma, who hosts ITV's The Voice, married the musician in 2008, just three days after he was out of rehab.

“It's very easy to look in on a situation that you're not directly involved in and go: 'F*** that, get out of that," she said. “But when you're in it, you have that history together… and if you love someone you're not going anywhere.

"It's not easy. Sometimes I feel like I’ve got four kids instead of three. There's been a lot of joy, but equally it's been incredibly heavy at times.”

Matt, 40, has been to rehab four times in total, most recently relapsing on the 2016 Busted reunion tour when his youngest child was just ten months old. Hiding the relapse, which came after eight years of sobriety, Matt was secretly taking six grams of cocaine on his own every day.

“You kind of kick yourself a bit on reflection because you're like how the f*** didn't I see that?” says Emma. “All those key signs that I hadn't seen for so many years were all coming back.”

Despite their struggles, Emma remains deeply in love with her husband and is committed to their marriage. The couple have three children together, daughters Isabelle and Trixie and son Ace. “Along with addiction comes a lot of bad times,” she said. “As hard and as bad as that can be and has been, it also is part of who he is and who he is who I love. "

Emma has hosted ITV's The Voice since 2014 and will once again be joined by judges Sir Tom Jones, Anne-Marie, Will.i.am, and Olly Murs this year. "They are so good together those four, they just gel brilliantly and there are some really lovely relationships," she said.

"There’s a surprise involving me as well that I don’t want to spoil, but I had loads of fun! There are also some surprising choices when the competition gets further down the line. I always think I can guess who they are going to choose but that just wasn’t the case this series."

The Voice UK starts Saturday, November 4 at 8.25pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
