Famous Indiana Jones shirt worn by Harrison Ford in iconic scene may fetch £300k

Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford may have just hung up his hat after the hero’s fifth outing but his Raiders of the Lost Ark shirt is set to net a UK fan up to £300,000.

The khaki kit was worn by Indy as he escapes a giant boulder in the opening scenes of the 1981 film and later in Cairo. Since the shoot, it has changed hands for next to nothing via charity shops and eBay. Auctioneers Propstore put it through forensic analysis to prove its provenance.

The firm’s Stephen Lane said: “We could screen-match it to scenes thanks to technological advances. With 4K, we can look at finer intricacies. The pockets don’t line up – one is higher. And there are pleated tapes which were hand-stitched.”

The shirt was lent to Disney for recent Indiana Jones blockbuster Dial of Destiny, to faithfully re-create Ford’s wardrobe. Mr Lane added: “The seller felt with the new film it was a good time to sell – especially with Harrison Ford hanging up his hat."
