Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs have been warned ahead of a huge Week 9 game against the Miami Dolphins after Patrick Mahomes had his worst game of the season.

The Chiefs and the Dolphins both share the best record in the AFC (6-2), with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens also .750 this season. The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills are close behind with five wins, but after an awful start the Cincinnati Bengals (4-3) have turned their season around.

Mahomes threw zero touchdowns in Week 8 and was picked twice as the Chiefs lost against the Denver Broncos, and another loss on Sunday could dent their hopes of being the No. 1 seed at the end of the regular season. But former NFL player Jason Bell thinks that the Bengals pose the biggest threat to the rest of the AFC, despite their inferior record.

The Chiefs were outclassed by the Broncos 24-9 in Week 8, and it was a bad day at the office for Mahomes and his offense. Bell thinks they will bounce back against the Dolphins, but has issued a warning to the rest of the AFC that the Bengals are coming.

"One thing about Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs is that they are a championship team for a reason," Bell told Mirror Sport via 888 Sport. "They can recover from losses and mistakes because they know they can fix it.

"Mahomes had an off week against the Broncos, but the Chiefs’ defense kept them in the game, and it was his turnovers that hurt them. Now, they have a week to reflect on that and make sure it doesn't happen again. Playing against great players after they've had a bad week is always intimidating for a player or a team, and I think we'll see them bounce back because of it.

"Looking at the AFC, I believe the Bengals pose the biggest threat. However, the Chiefs are a formidable team and are determined to dethrone the champions. The key to their success is their defense, which is a new development. They need to continue taking control of games, with Patrick Mahomes making the necessary plays.

"The beauty of this team is that, because of their strong defence, they can excel in situations that require them to be hot. They might not score in bunches now, but they are capable of it, making them a dangerous team. The way the Bengals are currently performing, with Joe Burrow's health and the defence playing well, the AFC should be on high alert."

The Bengals have won their past three games but their recent win over the San Francisco 49ers was their most impressive. Burrow became the highest-paid quarterback briefly before the start of the season, but after starting 1-3 there was concern that the new contract may be playing on his mind.

In reality, Burrow was just hurt, and now that he's close to full fitness his impact on the Bengals is showing once more. They face the Bills on Sunday Night Football, which will really display where they are at as a team.
