UFC boss Dana White admits he didn't watch Fury vs Ngannou with "crazy" claim

UFC boss Dana White was shocked that Francis Ngannou was able to go 10 rounds with heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Former UFC champion Ngannou lost his boxing debut to Fury by split decision last weekend in Saudi Arabia. The decision was heavily criticised as many fans think Ngannou should have won the fight. The Cameroonian was laughed at by pundits for thinking he had a chance in the fight, but Fury admitted Ngannou was his toughest opponent in the past decade.

Ngannou left the UFC on bad terms at the beginning of this year after failing to agree to a new contract. White claimed that Ngannou wanted more money to fight lesser competition and labelled his crossover fight with Fury as a "gimmick", with Ngannou using the term against him by creating his own promotional company called Gimik Fights.

White praised Ngannou for his performance against Fury whilst speaking on the Triggered podcast as he said: “I didn’t see the fight, but the fact that he went 10 rounds is unbelievable. The fact that he went 10 rounds with Tyson Fury is crazy. He just went 10 rounds with Tyson Fury."

Ngannou became the second high-profile UFC fighter who crossed over to boxing following Conor McGregor's 2017 'money fight' against ring legend Floyd Mayweather. White added: "Conor made it 9 or 10 [rounds] with Floyd and Anthony Pettis just beat Roy Jones Jr. I know Roy is 60 years old or whatever, but I don’t know what the hell is going on. It’s crazy."

Ngannou's contract with rival MMA promotion PFL allows him to compete in boxing, meaning he could either fight in a cage or a ring for his next bout. White launched Zuffa Boxing around the time of McGregor's fight with Mayweather but the promotion never saw the light of day and he dismissed the idea of trying to get back into the boxing business.

"Listen, these guys, at some point, everybody is going to move on. Everybody has to do what’s right for them and make money for their families, so whatever they’ve got to do, they’ve got to do. Every time I get on the phone with one of these boxing guys, I go, ‘What the f*** am I doing?' Am I out of my mind? These guys are all horrible to deal with," White added.
