A woman has shared her heartbreak after discovering her husband has been leading a double life. The 27-year-old revealed she had taken matters into her own hands by laying a trap to discover the truth and had been left devastated by the results.

Taking to Reddit to ask for advice on what to do next, the woman sounded desperate as she recounted the events that had led up to her current situation and begged for advice on how to handle the situation. She wrote: “I recently found my partner’s secret life, it feels like such a cliché.”

Giving some background information, the woman shared that she and her partner had been together for 10 years and had three children, the youngest being just 10 months old. “We’ve basically grown up together. We’re not legally married, but he did propose in 2018 right before we bought our house and we’ve called each other “wife” and “husband” ever since,” she explained.

“I’m not going to romanticize our relationship because it’s far from perfect. But I always thought we would be the couple to grow old together. He works a very demanding job, that my dad also had, so I know the hours are long. And I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for almost five years, and homeschool our children. At first, I stayed home because I was severely ill with baby number two, I almost died, but then he asked me to stay home with our kids as it would be cheaper than daycare. This year he asked me to homeschool as well.”

The woman went on to say that lately, the couple had been going through some difficult times as she’s been feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things she has to do. To make matters even worse, the mum received a text message from a friend to say that she had recently spotted her partner on Tinder and shared photos to prove it.

Shaken, the woman was sickened to realise that not only were the photos new, as he had recently had a haircut, but that he had used a name that they’d planned for their future fourth child if it was a boy. She went on: “He’s always talked down on cheaters since his dad was a huge womanizer, and it caused a lot of trauma for him and his family. So I made a catfish Tinder account to see for myself.”

Unable to hook her husband in via Tinder, she decided to go one step further and search his phone for evidence. Coming up with a plan, she explained: “I made one of his favourite dinners and even made a pie, so he could go into a food coma and go to bed earlier. It worked, he was out by 8:30. I let my older kids stay up to watch a few movies so that bedtime was postponed while I snooped through his phone.”

She went on: “I found so much. All in plain sight. Not much was hidden. No, tinder was not on his phone but he was texting 3 different numbers that were obviously girls from there (they all called him by the fake name), they had sent pictures back and forth. I found at least 4 different Snapchat threads that were him emotionally cheating with more girls, calling each other “babe” and “hunny bun” which is what he calls me. I found texts that say he’s a single dad and “the mom” doesn’t want anything to do with the kids. Explicit pictures sent back and forth and when I thought that was it, I found the hidden pictures folder.”

The disgusted woman discovered that her husband had many nude photos of different women and herself in the file, and a sexual video of him with another woman. She added: “I used my phone to take pictures and videos of everything and sent them to my email. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them yet, but I have them.”

Most upsetting, the woman did some digging and discovered that the video was taken one month after she had given birth to their third child. She shared: “It was one of the many times he would say he’s going out with the “boys”. He even texted me that night and told me how much he loved me, and how he was going to take me to breakfast in the morning.”

Absolutely broken by the revelation that her husband and father of her children is a liar and a cheat, the woman confessed that she didn’t know what to do for the best as she didn’t have any family to help or her own money.

The heartbreaking post quickly caught Redditers attention and thousands of people commented offering support and advice. One kind person wrote: “There are many resources, please reach out to them. I can even look them up for you if you want to DM me your area. I am a domestic violence counsellor.

"I understand you aren't being abused, but you are stuck in a very bad situation for your own well-being. If you have the YWCA (Young Women's Christian Association) - they have great programs for single moms getting back on their feet. Some will pay for your down payment on a rental. They pay for childcare so you can work and bring in an income. I'm so sorry you are going through this. It's the worst, as I have been there. Please reach out if you need any help!”

And someone else wrote: “Legal aid! Contact them, they have a ton of resources and can help. Know that so many people are rooting for you, and your success. Be strong, be methodical, this will be difficult, but you can do this.”
