A man allegedly threatened to shoot a student with AR-15 rifle hours from where Robert Card killed 18 people in Lewiston, Maine

According to police, Adam Green, aged 36, had been making jokes on social media about the mass shooting in Lewiston when he was questioned by a Topsham resident about why he would do so. Green is accused of then messaging the resident and requested his address before making threats to show up at a local elementary school with an AR-15, according to police.

The threat sparked an emergency response in Topsham, Maine, where schools were locked down and a shelter in place order was issued. Green was arrested in Fort Fairfield. Police say they arrested 36-year-old Adam Green and charged him with terrorizing and harassment by telephone or another electronic device.

Maine shooter Robert Card used an AR-15 rifle to shoot dead 18 innocent people in Lewiston, Maine. Renowned for its lightweight design and ease of operation, the AR-15, a civilian variant of the military M16, is celebrated for its high velocity, precision, and compatibility with detachable magazines carrying substantial ammunition.

However, its rapid-fire capability has firmly entrenched it as a weapon of choice in mass shootings, reigniting the ongoing national debate on gun control measures. Prior to the start of 2023, ten of the 17 deadliest U.S. mass shootings since 2012 involved AR-15s, according to The Washington Post.

It comes after a Florida roofing business is offering a free AR-15 rifle and a Thanksgiving turkey with a purchase of a new roof in a jaw-dropping advert. ROOF EZ posted about their special offer, saying: "Introducing our "Roof & Gobble" special! Buy a roof from us this November, and we'll throw in a FREE turkey to roast on that brand new roof! Plus, because we're feeling extra generous, we'll even toss in an AR-15!"

The company doubled-down on their bizarre offer, explaining: "The turkey will get you all sitting at the table so you can spend time together. The roof will protect your home, and the AR-15 will protect your family."

President of Roof EZ told reporters he had seen the idea to offer similar free items with purchases elsewhere, and opted to try it out for his own business. He said: "I actually saw this idea; a company actually did it in Alabama. I figured, hey, we’re in Florida. This is the most Florida thing you can do. Let’s do it.

“Everybody needs an AR-15,” Polly added. “The world’s a crazy place right now, and they can get a roof and an AR-15 for protection on both ends, why not? And to promote gun safety. Everyone needs to know how to handle a gun safely."
