Glastonbury Festival organisers have scrapped tonight's ticket sale for the 2024 weekend - hours before the release in a shock move that has left fans reeling.

Festival ticket sales have been delayed by two weeks "out of fairness" to certain customers who did not realise their registration had expired. It comes after some older profiles were suddenly deleted, with people claimed they had not been made aware of the problem. Tickets for 2024 cost £355, plus a £5 booking fee.

The statement, which came just four four hours before tickets with coach travel were due to go on sale, was shared on social media today and reads: "This year's Glastonbury ticket sale has been moved back by two weeks. This is to ensure that everyone who would like to buy a ticket is registered and therefore eligible to purchase one.

"The new dates for Glastonbury ticket sale are as follows: TICKETS PLUS COACH TRAVEL ON SALE AT 6PM GMT, THURSDAY, 16TH NOVEMBER. GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS ON SALE AT 9AM GMT, SUNDAY, 19TH NOVEMBER.

"Following this year's Festival, we alerted everyone with a registration which pre-dated 2020 of a scheduled review of the details held by See Tickets in the Glastonbury Festival registration database. This was in order to ensure that the details we hold are current and that we do not store individuals' information for any longer than is necessary. These registrants were asked to take action to confirm their registration if they wished to keep it.

"As always, registration was then closed on Monday (30th October) ahead of the ticket sale. Unfortunately, it has come to light that some individuals hoping to buy tickets for 2024 have discovered after Monday's registration deadline that they are no longer registered, despite believing they were.

"Out of fairness to those individuals, we will be re-opening the window for registration at 12 noon on Monday, 6th November. It will remain open until 5pm on Monday, 13th November. We urge everyone hoping to buy a ticket to Glastonbury 2024 to either check their existing registration now or submit new registration, which remains free of charge (link in bio) from 12 noon on Monday.

"We apologise for the late change to the ticket sale dates, but we want to ensure that everyone who would like to buy a ticket for next year's Festival is able to confirm their registration ahead of the sale."

Fans online were left fuming at the sudden decision. Taking to twitter, one wrote: "Maybe you don't realise, but getting the tickets for Glasto requires planning in advance. You can't just cancel or readjust plans with a two week notice. This isn't good."

Another said: "Bit of a bugger if you'd made plans to make sure you were available this week though" while one pointed out: "So you’re telling me, that despite the numerous emails & messages reminding everyone about their registration, people STILL didn’t check?"

A user pointed out the efforts people have had to go to to ensure they could get tickets on Thursday as planned, writing: "Not to sound like a jerk but HOW did people not re-register for Glasto in time??? there were sooo many reminders… people have changed work/life plans etc talk about last minute."

The world-famous Somerset festival is back next June and always features three big Pyramid Stage headliners for each of the three main days of the event. Rumours for Glastonbury Festival 2024 include Madonna, Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Pink, The 1975, Foo Fighters and more.
