David Mitchell breaks silence as wife Victoria Coren gives birth to second baby
David Mitchell has broken his silence after his wife Victoria Coren Mitchell gave birth to their second baby at age 51.
Victoria shared the couple's happy news on social media on Wednesday where she opened up on clothes no longer fitting her after giving birth to the couple's second child earlier last week. Taking to X, formally Twitter, Victoria posted: "Many people are assuming my tweet yesterday was a Halloween costume. Not at all; last week I had a baby and nothing currently fits me except cloaks. Luckily, Only Connect is a pre-record. Happy All Saints Day."
David addressed their new arrival in a short but sweet comment on the social media platform, posting under a tweet that read: "A huge congratulations to @RealDMitchell and @VictoriaCoren on the birth of their second child," he said: "Thank you! We're very happy."

Victoria and David also confirmed their baby news in The Times. A notice read: "MITCHELL on 26th June October 2023 to Victoria and David, a daughter, June Violet sister to Barbara." The two met all the way back in 2007.
David and Victoria first met at Jonathan Ross' famous Halloween party in 2007. They were first introduced to each other by fellow comedian David Baddiel, who played matchmaker. Victoria previously admitted: "He specifically said to me, 'There’s David Mitchell over there, I think you should probably marry him, I’ll get the ball rolling by introducing you.'"

While in his 2012 autobiography, David shared: "I was pretty sure she was flirting, but was unwilling to believe my instincts as that seemed too good to be true." The pair got along like a house on fire, but they didn't actually go on their first date until 2010, as Victoria explained her father had just died and the timing wasn't right.
The Peep Show star was waiting things out before trying to win Victoria over again. "I waited three years. Isn’t that weird? Aren’t I odd? I can’t explain it other than to say I couldn’t do anything else," David wrote. Love blossomed between the pair and David and Victoria welcomed their daughter Barbara Elizabeth June Mitchell in 2015.
They live together in Kilburn, North West London. In his book, David admitted he was "hopelessly in love" with his wife. "She’s not only too wonderful, she’s too right for me. She’s funny, bright, sexy, nervous and confident in ways that could have been meant for me," he gushed.
Victoria is equally stunned to have landed David. "I mean, he's a hugely successful television comedian, he could have had a gorgeous 24-year-old skinny wife with a tiny nose and a string bikini, but he chose me! Me!", she told the Telegraph. Comedian and actor David shot to fame alongside Robert Webb as part of the comedy duo Mitchell and Webb.
They went on to star in Peep Show together as well as writing and starring in a number of other hit sketch shows. Victoria is a writer, TV presenter and a professional poker player. She has been the host of BBC quiz show Only Connect since 2008.
