Harry Kane's command of the German language has yet to reach much beyond 'Guten Morgen' to the hotel staff that surround his living quarters.

With the England captain's family preparing to move to Bavaria, room service is still on the menu for the man who has taken the Bundesliga by storm in his first couple of months since leaving Tottenham and his home comforts.

So much so that his hotel digs currently house the two match balls he has taken home from hat-trick displays in his first nine league games for Bayern Munich. Those six goals have come as part of his dozen Bundesliga strikes - no player for any team has ever scored that many in so few games in the history of the German top flight.

But while his England teammate, Jude Bellingham, is receiving rave reviews and Ballon d’Or forecasts for his first couple of months at Real Madrid, Kane is still being associated with a level of flat-track bully accusations.

While Bellingham’s goals have come against the likes of Athletic Bilbao and a double in the Clasico against Barcelona, Kane plays in a traditionally-weaker league, with his hat-tricks coming in 7-0 and 8-0 wins over Bochum and Darmstadt.

It should be noted in Kane’s favour that he also scored against Leverkusen and Leipzig but on Saturday evening he will have a chance to show his true value when Munich travel to Dortmund to face the team whose hearts they broke by pinching the title on goal difference in the dying moments of last season. Both teams are unbeaten heading into Der Klassiker, with Kane eager to taste it for the first time.

“It’s gonna be a tough match,” said Kane. “Dortmund have started very well. It’ll be my first one, but I’ve played in a lot of derby games, rival games. So, I’m looking forward to it. I’m sure it’ll be a great atmosphere from both teams. We have to go with the mindset to continue our form. We’ve been on a good momentum lately. Hopefully, we can continue that against Dortmund.”

Bayern boss, Thomas Tuchel, will take a win any way he can get it in Dortmund but he will hope it might be a little less crazy than Saturday’s bizarre showing at home against Darmstadt. Bayern lost Joshus Kimmich to a straight red card after four minutes, with Kimmich now suspended for the trip to Dortmund.

But before half-time, Munich had a man advantage as the visitors were reduced to nine by two straight reds of their own.

In a game that saw keeper Manuel Neuer return 10 months after a shocking leg break while skiing, it was goalless at half-time before Munich helped themselves to eight in the second half, spearheaded by Kane’s hat-trick, the third of which was a superb 60-yard effort from inside his own half.

Kane is fourth on the all-time list of Premier League hat-trick scorers with eight, although remarkably all of them came in a spell between March 2015 and December 2017.

Kane and Tuchel would love to see him grab another match ball this weekend against their arch-rival and if he does, it is headed back to his room.

“I’m just keeping them in my hotel room at the moment,” Kane said after Saturday’s treble. “I’m still waiting to find a house. This was a nice hat-trick, a couple of nice goals in there. Credit to the team. With these players around me, I know I’m gonna get chances. So, I’ve just got to make sure I’m in the right places at the right time.”
