Do you think Lily Slater's pregnancy storyline in Eastenders goes 'too far'?
Eastenders fans were left in shock on Sunday night after it was announced that Lily Slater was pregnant - but do you think the storyline has gone too far?
The 12-year-old was rushed to the hospital after suffering from stomach pains, which was believed to have been caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Instead the child's mum Stacey Slater was dealt a devastating blow after learning that her young daughter was pregnant.
Viewers of the popular BBC show are split over the controversial storyline, with some claiming it has gone too far.
While it is not the first time that a soap has tackled child pregnancy, it has been highlighted that Lily may be the youngest ever featured in a serial drama.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessTaking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “I really hate this lily storyline in EastEnders - especially after Micks storyline where Katy Lewis manipulated and groomed a 12 year old child for sex.
"I know it happens but I just think they should have done it when they were 14 minimum. Preteens is not cool at all."
Another added: “Stacey being told Lily’s pregnant…..I HATE THIS ALREADY.”
Meanwhile, others support the storyline, arguing that the topic is too important to avoid.
One viewer penned: “They write about stories based on real life and unfortunately this happens a awful lot! And I think it’s a good eye opener for parents to be more vigilant on their kids and check social media etc.”
A second commented: “People moaning about another teenage pregnancy storyline. It still happens in real life. So why not another story.”
