British woman, 66, stabbed to death at house in Italy as cops look for husband

A 66-year-old British woman has been found stabbed to death at her home in Italy with cops hunting for her husband.

The unnamed victim was knifed in the abdomen, with a murder investigation having been launched, local police have said. She was found in a pool of blood by a friend at the countryside property, around six miles outside the Verratti district in Casoli (Chieti). It's understood the pal had tried to call her but on getting no response went round to her home.

The couple had lived at the address for around three years, reports La Repubblica. The friend called for help, leading to neighbours alerting police. The pair were often seen taking walks in the countryside surrounding the house with their three dogs.

The Carabinieri are currently looking for the woman's husband who allegedly remains on the run after fleeing in the family car, a white Jeep Compass. The chief prosecutor of Lanciano, Mirvana Di Serio, and the forensic police were among those at the scene.
