Bookmakers have predicted that Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Thomas will be the next contestant to be eliminated from the BBC show as he's already on his "last legs."

The Waterloo Road star, 35, who narrowly survived last week's dance off against Zara McDermott, has been given 7/4 odds to be axed this weekend. Meanwhile, former tennis star Annabel Croft, who has recently spoken out against backstage tension among the contestants, has also been given the same odds but Krishnan Guru-Murthy is at 11/4, Angela Rippon is at 6/1 but Bobby Brazier is at 100/1, ahead of this weekend's live show.

A spokesman for Betfred, Kayley Cornelius, said: "I anticipate that the next elimination will bring a division of opinions. After Zara’s departure, we have a remarkably strong cast remaining, all with the potential to earn high scores and claim the top spot on the leaderboard with the right dance. However, if they end up with a dance style that doesn't naturally suit them, it could spell trouble."

She added: "After merely beating McDermott in the dance-off last weekend, Adam Thomas’ time in the competition could be on its last legs. Throughout the series, Adam has unfortunately fallen ill on numerous occasions, which has previously impacted his rehearsals, and almost resulted in him pulling out of last week’s Halloween special. While the Eastenders star is yet to miss a show, at this stage in the competition, every moment at rehearsals matters and any simple mistake could cost your space in the competition which is why Thomas is currently Betfred’s top prediction to leave with 7/4 odds."

She then continued saying: "Also on 7/4 odds to leave is Annabel Croft - while she has consistently performed well - she is yet to have her without a standout and will now have to put in a significant effort to secure her place. Given both Annabel and Adam put their best foot forward on Saturday night, other contestants who could face elimination are Krishnan Guru-Murthy with 11/4 odds to leave, and Angela Rippon 6/1 odds to leave. While the pair are loved by the audience, they may soon encounter their limits in this fierce competition."

Following Zara's exit, her boyfriend Sam Thompson waded into the "fix" row that has been circulating around the BBC show for weeks. Speaking on Hits UK, he said: "It was her third dance-off, and everyone else, and I know Zara won’t mind me saying this, everyone else is a better dancer than her. Most [contestants left] have had some sort of theatre training, let alone dance training and she trained for 12 hours a day every single day. I barely got to see her, and she put every single ounce of herself into it." Praising her efforts he continued: "She can walk out with her head held incredibly high and I said this to her; ‘you beat everyone else who couldn’t dance, who’ve never danced before, so you’re my winner."
