Katya Jones' comment to Nigel Harman sparks same reaction from Strictly fans

Katya Jones sparked the same reaction from Strictly Come Dancing fans when she made a comment about her celebrity partner, Nigel Harman.

The couple sailed through to the next round of the competition on Saturday after their Halloween-themed Cha Cha to I Was Made For Lovin' You by Kiss. However, they were criticised by head judge Shirley Ballas, 63, who warned them about making "mistakes" in their routine.

Taking to Instagram after finding out they'd been voted to stay in the show by the public, Katya, 34, shared snaps of herself and Nigel, 50, in training with the caption: "Thank you!!!!! This is all getting real. We are half way through the competition. And things are getting tougher, but we just want to keep dancing! Thank you for giving us an opportunity to learn another dance and bring joy to your Saturday nights!" Week 7 . Here we go."

Her post was quickly flooded with comments, with many fans saying the couple had been unfairly criticised by Shirley. One replied: "You guys are brilliant! I think the judges were incredibly harsh last night. Come back next week in control, smash it & don’t worry about anything!" Another commented: "You are absolutely brilliant. All my votes went to you guys as I thought judges were extremely harsh on what was a brilliant dance."

A third penned: "Amazing. I think the judges are being a little harsh on Nigel more than the others but week 7 will be the week you both totally SMASH it and blow ALL of them away again. let's go top of the leaderboard!!" While a fourth mused: "You guys are amazing and Shirley is being way too harsh on Nigel for some reason. Good luck for next week."

While Shirley praised Nigel and Katya for their 'connection', she said she had to be "fair" and point out their mistakes. As a sea of boos erupted in the audience, she continued: "I have to say, and I'm sure you'll know again I will say to everybody please play it back, too many mistakes.

"At least two or three mistakes, not synchronised. I can't do it for one and not for someone else. I can't do that - it's not fair. So you have to learn that when you come under pressure, and this is what is it the halfway mark now, and the pressure sets in. You have got to be flawless and not be mistakes."

Despite their tough critique, the couple received 30 points altogether from the judges, including Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke - and were also voted for by the public meaning they'll be performing again on Saturday as the sequin- strewn fight for the Glitterball trophy continues.
