Danny Miller has revealed the real reason he returned to Emmerdale, admitting he's "very lucky" to be back filming at the Leeds studio following a lengthy break.

The 32-year-old reprised his role as Aaron Dingle on the ITV drama earlier this month for its 50th anniversary celebrations, after a two-year-long hiatus from the show. During his absence, he and wife Steph Jones welcomed two children; son Albert in 2021 and daughter Edith in August of this year.

Danny was also crowned the winner of I'm A Celebrity in 2021, after delighting viewers with his uplifting attitude and heartwarming bond with campmate David Ginola. The door for him to return to Emmerdale was always kept open, with his final scenes seeing him leave the village after telling sister Liv Flaherty that he couldn't figure out if she killed his partner Ben Tucker or not.

Speculation has been gripping the show's audiences ever since it was revealed that Cain Dingle and Caleb Milligan (Jeff Hordley and William Ash) have been holding a mystery person hostage in a vacant house on Wylie's Farm. The hostage has since been unveiled as Aaron, much to the shock of the soap's fans.

Speaking about his return to Emmerdale, Danny heaped praies on wife Steph as he revealed he wouldn't have made his TV comeback without her encouragement or support. The actor gushed: "I owe it all to Steph. I am so lucky. My return to Emmerdale has been made so much easier because she is so incredible," he told OK! Magazine. "I am loving being back at Emmerdale but the days can be long sometimes and I can return home feeling very knackered!"

Danny also gushed about their two kids in a recent interview with Lorraine, telling the ITV host that one-year-old Albert is "amazing" with his little sister Edith.

"I'm very, very lucky, me and Steph. Steph is just amazing, she makes my job a lot easier," he added. Steph, 30, hails from Manchester and works as a midwife for the NHS. She and Danny tied the knot a lavish country manor in Cheshire in 2022, after the soap star popped the question while the couple was holidaying in St. Lucia. The couple have known each other since their school days, but only started dating a few years ago.

Danny announced his Emmerdale homecoming earlier month, revealing that he was "excited" to finally be able to share the positive job news with viewers. The reality TV star winner also explained how the writers kept his return to the Yorkshire village hidden from others by assigning him two 'code names'.

"It’s so good to be back permanently," he added. "Everyone wanted to keep it a secret and I loved this idea, so I was given two code names on the scripts - Albert Jones which I am guessing they got from my wife’s maiden name and son, and then Wylie Smith is the other alias as he starts at Wylie Farm. And you would be surprised how many people didn’t clock on to who it was at first!"
