Elon Musk claims Mark Zuckerberg pulled out of MMA fight between tech giants

Tesla and X boss Elon Musk has claimed fellow tech giant Mark Zuckerberg was to blame for their MMA fight falling through.

Musk, 52, and Meta co-founder Zuckerberg, 39, were in talks to fight in the summer but any chance of them meeting in a cage looks bleak. Zuckerberg is vastly more experienced than Musk having regularly trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu since taking up the martial art around three years ago.

A cage fight between the pair was suggested by a social media user who warned to "be careful" because of Zuckerberg because of his grappling experience in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Musk insisted he was serious about meeting his rival in the cage and has now explained why the mega-fight never worked out.

“The Zuck fight is funny because he was posting all of these fight videos and someone on Twitter said ‘You should fight Zuck’. I said I was willing to do it if he was. Italy was willing to let us use the Colosseum, couldn’t turn that down. I like the UFC and everything but we don’t want to have tons of ads on the Colosseum because it’s a place of great history, you don’t want it to be like Nascar," Musk said on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

“Zuck pulled out. He used the pull-out method. He was like ‘It’s got to be UFC rules’ and that was fine in the Colosseum, but we have to respect the historical integrity of it. He accused me of not being serious and I said ‘I’ll fight you any place, anywhere under any rules’. I’m happy to fight him in a house, on a mouse or with a louse."

Zuckerberg showed off his lean physique when training with UFC stars such as Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski before talks of the fight fizzled out, whilst Musk spent time alongside UFC legend Georges St-Pierre and jiu-jitsu legend John Danaher on the mats.

Musk joked that he would have made up for his lack of experience in a fight by using his size advantage to lay on top of Zuckerberg. "I’m way bigger than him, I don’t think he should fight me. I’m like 50 percent heavier than him, I’ve got my walrus move where I just lay on him. A walrus doesn’t need martial arts training because they are just going to roll on you," he added.
