Arsenal will travel to West Ham United as they look to keep up their hopes of a first Carabao Cup in three decades.

The Gunners continue to endure a gruelling schedule after being in Champions League action last week. Mikel Arteta is dealing with several injury concerns as he looks to shuffle his pack and keep all his players fresh in an effort to build on last season's forward strides.

A thumping win over Sheffield United saw them keep pace with local rivals and Premier League pacesetters Tottenham as Eddie Nketiah starred with the forward potentially playing a part at the London Stadium.

Here's the latest from the Emirates.

Rice set to feature on return

Arteta claimed Declan Rice was "likely" to feature for Arsenal as he prepares to return to to West Ham.

The midfielder's exit from the London Stadium was long expected and the England international chose to make a club-record switch to the Gunners. Rice was adored by Hammers fans, delivering a European trophy in his final match, and Arteta hopes the player receive a positive reception.

He said: "I think it’s beautiful. I had the experience to do it a few times and then you really see what they think of you and what you left at the club. It’s a really good way to measure your experience and your reality within the reality of the people who share moments with you."

Partey record a "concern"

Thomas Partey's injury record is a "big concern" admits Arteta with the midfielder set to be out until December.

Partey, 30, suffered a fresh setback ahead of the Gunners' trip to face Sevilla in the Champions League last Tuesday. The former Atletico Madrid man was a regular last term but has seen his minutes drop off as a result of injury and the arrival of Rice, who has commanded a spot in the starting XI.

The Ghana international has been linked with the exit door in north London but the Arsenal boss has hailed his influence when present. "When Thomas is fit and available and he's been part of the team, we have seen what the results and the impact that he has on the team," he said.

Arteta backs Messi win

Arteta has backed Lionel Messi's Ballon d'Or win despite some suggesting that Erling Haaland's treble success with Manchester City should've trumped his World Cup win with Argentina. Messi though claimed an eighth Golden Ball with the Gunners boss hailing his achievement and legacy.

He said: "When you talk about Messi, it can never be wrong. What he’s done; he’s won the World Cup, at his age, it was the pinnacle of his career. Everybody was expecting it, it’s just incredible. The consistency that he has shown, the level that he has put world football into, it’s incredible. I’m so glad as well that we had a few nominated in those lists."
