Princess Kate's popularity and impeccable record has afforded her extra royal privileges, according to one expert.

The Princess of Wales has been an official member of the Royal Family for nearly 12 years, and in that time has established herself as one of the most trustworthy. While the senior royal may have faced some criticism in the early days of her relationship to Prince William, she's now seen by many as one of the most dedicated.

And while not completely without the odd bump, the Wales' so far scandal-free marriage and Kate's untarnished reputation has earned her more flexibility when it comes to time with the most important people in her life - the royal children. According to PR expert Eddie Coram James, the Princess has been afforded more down time in recent months.

"The Princess of Wales has remained broadly controversy-free for years," Mr Coram James told the Daily Express. "She's kept her head down, not made a fuss, worked hard and dedicated herself to good causes. Given the context, of course, the press has given her a free pass to the benefit of the doubt."

His remarks come after Kate stayed in the UK last month to be with Prince George, Charlotte and Louis, as William travelled to New York for the annual Earthshot Prize Summit - a cause the royal couple has championed. She's also planning to miss the award ceremony in Singapore in November as she looks after the children.

Mr Coram James added: "When she says she wants to miss Earthshot to focus on parenting, people trust that that is probably the case." Kate and William's handling of recent criticisms and allegations made by Prince Harry and Meghan appear to have earned them extra favour from the public, the expert claims.

The couple made various bombshell claims in recent years, including the claim in Harry's memoir Spare alleging that his older brother had lashed out at him during a fight over Meghan. The Wales family have never directly addressed the claims, although a statement released by Buckingham Palace in light of the famous 2021 Oprah interview said the family was "saddened" by revelations made.
