Rolling Stones legends Mick Jagger and Roonie Wood watched Barcelona lose to Real Madrid

Barcelona lost the first El Clasico of the season in front of legendary singer Mick Jagger as his apparent curse looks to have struck again.

The Rolling Stones legend was at the Catalan's temporary home as they took on rivals Real Madrid in front of a capacity ground. Barcelona are playing away from the Nou Camp as it is being redevelope, but Jagger made the trip to Spain to back them.

Ilkay Gundogan gave Xavi's side an early lead but two goals from Jude Bellingham ensured Los Blancos remain top of La Liga. The Englishman has been on fire since moving to Madrid and scored a wondergoal to equalise before notching the winner in stoppage time.

Jagger has a reputation for backing teams who end up on the wrong end of scorelines. Rewind to the 2010 World Cup and he supported three teams: England, the USA and Brazil. He was in attendance as the USA lost to Ghana, Brazil lost to Netherlands and England were hammered by Germany.

That trend continued four years later as Jagger attended the 2014 World Cup. Midway through the tournament he was busy touring with the Rolling Stones but predicted that Italy would beat Uruguay and head to the knockout, Portugal would win the Cup and said on social media that England should beat Uruguay in their crucial group clash.

All three proved to be wrong as Italy's loss ended their World Cup hopes, Portugal failed to make it out of the group with USA finishing above them and England lost out to Uruguay.

Barcelona look to have now been on the receiving end as they lost for the first time in La Liga. Xavi felt that their reverse was not a fair reflection of the game, insisting his side were deserving of the three points.

He said: "As I said, from my point of view, we dominated for 60 minutes, but that's football, if you don't score the second... We need five or six [chances] to score a goal. With three, they score two. Madrid have that to their game. We were not clinical enough. I think our plan worked well.

"Maybe I am exaggerating, they made us suffer late on, but I honestly think if anyone was going to win the game, it was going to be us. We deserved to win. We controlled Madrid well. They didn't create a lot. One shot from outside the box and then [Luka] Modric does not control the ball at the end and Bellingham takes advantage of that to score."
