Man found dead near Tesco and McDonald's as police probe grim discovery

A man's body has been found on a busy roundabout near a Tesco superstore, with police now probing the tragic discovery.

The body was discovered in Gillingham, Kent at around midday on Friday. A number of emergency services were spotted around the Bowaters Roundabout, with police, fire engines and ambulances all in attendance.

Kent Police have launched an investigation and the death is at this stage being treated as "unexplained". The man's age or identity has not yet been confirmed.

One eyewitness told Kent Online that police officers were working at the scene in the hours after the tragic discovery. The witness also described seeing a private ambulance and at least one fire engine.

It is unclear who found the body, which was discovered on Bowaters Roundabout, which is filled with trees and bushes. The roundabout is next to a Tesco superstore as well as a McDonald's, Aldi and B&Q.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called just after midday today (Friday, October 27) to reports the body of a man had been found on Bowaters Roundabout, Gillingham. The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and officers are carrying out initial enquiries.”

The death is not believed to be linked to any ongoing missing persons investigation.
