Meghan Markle's former pal Lizzie Cundy has hit out at the Duchess following a string of cruel cartoons about the royal.

In recent months, both Meghan and Prince Harry have found themselves being mocked by a string of cartoons including Family Guy. Most recently, the US comedy took aim at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as the character Peter Griffin explained he would "go it alone" similar to the couple having suffered financial issues.

The show then cut to a scene depicting Meghan and Harry sitting around a large swimming pool. Viewers then saw Harry saying he "shouldn't have left the made-up nonsense," referring to his and Meghan's controversial decision to step back from royal duties in 2020. Lizzie believes that should Meghan release her hotly anticipated memoirs, it would continue to see the couple become a "laughing stock".

The model and Meghan became friends in 2013 at the Global Gift Gala when she was tasked with keeping the budding actress entertained as she attempted to crack the UK showbiz scene. But following her relationship with Prince Harry, Meghan cut all contact with Lizzie and the likes of Piers Morgan, sparking outrage.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Lizzie said: "In light of the recent cartoons mocking Meghan and Harry, King Charles needs to intervene and stop her memoirs. Enough now of their moaning and whinging, all they do is backstab and make a career out of complaining.

"It's so bad now that we're a laughing stock across the pond making cartoon features of the couple – it's time for this to stop." The star went on to add: "Meghan can forget a career in politics because, with their moaning, they've become laughingstocks, not just here but in the States. Their celebrity friends have moved away from them.

"They've had to try and reinvent themselves but they don't know how. They make money by slating our royal family." Lizzie believes His Majesty "needs to intervene" to prevent the former Suits actress from sharing her memoirs over fears it could be more explosive than Harry's, Spare.

Directly addressing her former friend, the presenter said: "Meghan, put the pen down, the Royal Family can't take it anymore and the British public has had enough. The Royals can't take another cartoon series of them being mocked. Please, for once, put the pen down," before saying: "King Charles, grow a backbone and tell her straight."

It was recently reported that both David and Victoria Beckham had distanced themselves from Meghan and Harry following claims that Meghan accused Posh and Becks of leaking stories to the press. Although there is no confirmation that Meghan is set to tell her story in a memoir, it has been widely reported that she is already in the process of writing it.
