It seems like the writers for Family Guy need to do a little more research for the next time they poke fun at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

On the latest episode of the adult comedy show last Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared in animated form for less than a minute. But in that time, the show created by comedian and actor Seth McFarlane made an obvious mistake.

Peter Griffin, the patriarch of the Griffin family, compares himself to the couple when he tells his friends he'll "go at it alone" like Harry and Meghan after he suffers financial problems. The scene then cuts to Harry and Meghan poolside as they lay on blue lounge chairs in red and black bathing suits respectively.

A butler for the family appears and offers Harry some cash. "Sir, your millions from Netflix for...no one knows what," he tells the Duke.

"Put it with the rest of them," Harry answers. Meghan turns to her husband and says: "Babe, time to do our daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco."

Harry answers defeatedly: "I shouldn't have left the made up nonsense," referencing the royal family. Meghan and Harry left their official royal duties in January of 2020. They now live in Santa Monica, California with their two children Archie, four, and Lilibet, two.

While some fans thought the joke went 'too far,' others were quick to point out an obvious detail that the comedy writers got wrong. The animated Meghan enlists Harry in helping her make a sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco, a fast food chain that specializes in Tex-Mex food.

However, Meghan doesn't have an Instagram, or Twitter or indeed any kind of social media account. And neither does Harry.

The couple had a joint @SussexRoyal Instagram page at one point but abandoned it two months after they stepped back from royal duties. The page is still up and boasts 9.3 million followers, even though it hasn't been updated since March 2020.

The post had white words on a blue background that read: "Thank you to this community - for the support, the inspiration, and the shared commitment to the good in the world. Harry & Meghan."

In the lengthy caption, after addressing the COVID-19 pandemic that was occurring at the time, the couple wrote: "While you may not see us here, the work continues." They ended the post saying that they would come back to social media at some point. "We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great! Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another," it finished.
