Frankie Essex struggling after having twins as she admits she's 'lost her spark'
Former The Only Way is Essex's Frankie Essex has revealed she feels "unsexy" and is insecure about her Caesarian scar.
The mum-of-two gave birth to twins in June last year, but she has admitted she still struggles with adapting to being a parent sometimes. The 35-year-old, who is mum to her 16-month-old toddlers Logan and Luella, knows she was "born to be a mum", but the pressure has been getting to her lately, and she's felt like she needs a "proper sob".
Frankie's mum passed away when she was just 13 years old, something she says she might "have a bit of PTSD from" and which she has felt sad about lately.
Writing in her OK! column, Frankie said: "Since becoming a mum I feel like I've lost some of my sexiness, so the gym has been helping me feel better about that too. Me and Luke used to train together back in the day, and I used to go to spin class four times a week, but obviously, that changed when I was pregnant. And since having a slipped disc earlier this year I've been really worried about that happening again, so I've been working on strengthening my back. It's so scary that something like that can just happen, and I need to remain strong for the babies."
The reality star, who shares her babies with partner of four years Luke Love, said that she has a common body hang-up among new mums - her Caesarian scar. She explained: "When doing the caesarian they didn't cut in a straight line so the scar's actually quite bad. I talked to another mum about this when we were in Portugal and told her about my scar not being straight and she said that before giving birth she'd been told that that can happen. So when she had her caesarian her husband had asked the Doctor to make sure it was straight, but we'd never heard about this before."
Greggs, Costa & Pret coffees have 'huge differences in caffeine', says reportFrankie continued: "And I already had a bit of a hangover about that area of my body from being bigger in the past, and now I'm even more conscious of it because of the scar. And obviously, it's just a part of me now, but it just made me feel worse when I was already having a down day."
During lockdown, Frankie - who is the sister of Joey Essex - put on some weight due to feeling 'fed up'. But she went on to lose two stone, thanks to controlling her portion sizes and increasing activity.
She said: "I used to eat whatever someone would put on the plate in front of me, which is why I really needed to control my portion sizes. I now have my food on a smaller plate which is a really good idea.'" She is also an advocate of losing weight slowly, saying: "If you lose the weight steadily, you'll keep it off for longer, rather than a crash diet where you always put the weight straight back on."
