Strictly's Krishnan Guru-Murthy says Hollywood star sent him good luck message

BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Krishnan Guru-Murthy shared with his fans that Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger sent him a message to wish him luck in the BBC competition.

The 53 year old TV journalist took to his Instagram earlier this week and told fans about the message sent to him and his dance partner, Lauren Oakley. Krishnan posted the video and captioned it saying: "What an amazing guy! Just met @schwarzenegger for an interview on @channel4news about his new book #Be Useful and explained I was doing the UK equivalent of #dancingwiththestars and he kindly obliged with this (largely to delight @laurenmayoakley). Of course, if you vote to keep us in again this week WE'll BE BACK."

And his fans could not contain their joy. One person wrote: "From one legend to another! Krishnan, you are giving me LIFE on Strictly, an absolute joy to watch." Another said: "WOW this is so good & he's backing the right team. Now keep smashing this series guys you don't want to upset the terminator do you? You're fab-u-lous in my opinion." And a third person said: "Whoa! So neat. And I agree with him, you two will go far in this competition!"

On Saturday, fans will get to watch as Krishnan and Lauren perform the Viennese Waltz for Halloween week. They'll be dancing to Kiss from a Rose by Seal. Krishnan has been impressing the judges with his dancing ability, so much so, following their quickstep performance during week five, they scored an impressive 30 points.. And as a show of support, Krishnan's rarely seen son Jay, 16, was also in the audience. As Krishnan ran up the Strictly stairs to chat to host Claudia Winkleman after his performance, the contestant was greeted by the presenter wearing a white T-shirt with the words, "Hello Jay!"

She joked: "Jay is Krishan's son and he said he'd never come, but here he is!" The camera then panned to Krishnan's son, who was left visibly embarrassed. Following criticism from the judges, fans took to social media to share their thoughts. One fan said: "I love Krishnan and how much he's enjoying this – and flourishing." Another said: "Krishnan is an absolute joy!" And a third wrote: "Krishnan performing with so much joy is what the spirit of Strictly Come Dancing is all about." While Krishnan's high tempo performances have wowed viewers he has to be extra careful as he is suffering with a heart condition.

The Channel 4 News presenter has a genetic heart condition which means the Strictly crew have to keep a defibrillator on set while he dances. Krishnan has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which according to the British Heart Foundation is a disease of your heart muscle, where the muscle wall of your heart becomes thickened.

He told The Sun: "The basic advice is, I've got to keep my heart out of the red zone, which is the last 15 percent of your heart rate. So, I've got to keep my heart rate below about 140, and I don't know whether you can do that or not, in a 90-second very fast dance. My cardiologist basically said, 'I can't give you a hundred percent guarantee that you won't drop dead, but you'll be fine'. The Charleston will be a challenge, but we'll see."
