Love Island's Scott makes savage dig at Sammy and Jess and reason he did US show

Love Island's Scott van-der-Sluis has made a savage dig about winner's Sammy and Jess while revealing the real reason he signed up the the US version of the show.

The 22-year-old star appeared on this summer's series of the hit ITV2 show, which saw former couple Sammy and Jess take home the winnings. Scott had grown close to Catherine Agbaje while in the villa and at the time they appeared to reunite when they returned to the UK. However, he then went on to star on Love Island USA shortly afterwards.

Despite rocking up as a bombshell and coupling up with Johnnie Olivia in the Fiji villa, Scott was brutally dumped just days into the show. He has since made a brutal swipe at UK winners Sammy and Jess, who shocked fans when they announced their split earlier this month.

Speaking on the Saving Grace podcast, Scott remarked: "I don't think anyone truly didn't expect it. Out of the four couples, for me at the time, I thought that the other three were stronger." When asked if he was shocked Sammy and Jess were crowned winners, he responded: "Yes, In terms of the Love Island story, It should've been Ella and Ty.

"Ty obviously being a player coming into the villa, Ella probably doing a little bit of the same thing. Both struggling with feelings, Ty especially struggling with his feelings. And then suddenly, he's an absolute loverboy". Scott also revealed the very honest reason he took part in the US version of the show.

He admitted: "Put a figure in front of me and I was like, I'm gonna do it. I was just there for a laugh and some money." Scott is also set to join Love Island Games next week where ex-islanders search for a second chance at love. Love Island UK host Maya Jama is on presenting duties – and she’s got her work cut out as there are 26 Islanders in this series. Of those nine are from the UK, 10 are from America, four are Australian and there is one contestant each from France, Sweden and Germany.

The UK Love Island stars taking part alongside Scott include Curtis Pritchard, Meghan Barton Hanson, Georgia Steel, Eyal Brooker, Jack Fowler, Mike Boateng, Toby Aromolaran and Liberty Poole. Last month Scott revealed the shocking truth behind the selection process of the reality TV dating show and said contestants have been turned away at the last minute for failing an STI test.

Speaking to former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison on her podcast, Vicky Pattison: The Secret To, he said: "I went back to London for a medical." In response, Vicky then asked: "What was in your medical Scott?" He explained: "They had blood tests." And it was at this point she jumped in to state: "Making sure you haven't got STIs and that!" The TV personality agreed and added: "Exactly. Yes, you can't go into the villa with anything. I have actually heard stories that it has stopped people going into the villa. Because, they come up with something."

Former goalkeeper for Shelbourne F.C Scott has also shared he would go back to his non-celeb life, once his shelf life runs out. He continued: "But there’s so much going on now. I’m this young once and I would regret not doing some of the stuff I’ve been offered to do. And I think anyone else would do the same ultimately.”
