Millie's fans loved their idol's candid update on Tuesday, with one of the star's 63.5million Instagram followers rushing to the comment section to write: "thank you for normalizing breakouts." Drew Barrymore even applauded Millie, telling her fellow actress: "I love keeping it real. You are the greatest."

In 2019, Millie received a huge backlash as she seemingly shared a skincare demonstration using products from her line without actually putting anything on her face, which appeared to have makeup on it. Social media users were quick to notice, with one commenting: "Are we going to ignore the fact she never put anything on her face?"

Millie deleted the post from Instagram amid the controversy and went on to issue a statement. She told fans: "I’m still learning the best way to share my routines as I get to know this space better — I’m not an expert. I thought doing a quick video replicating my personal process for that night was okay, but that’s not what was conveyed. I understand, I appreciate all of your feedback on this journey, please keep sharing your thoughts and I will too!"

Speaking last year, Millie revealed she launched Florence By Mills without knowing much about the beauty industry. The actress told Allure: "That's why I created this. I'm going to take you on this journey with me, so we can learn more about botanicals, serums, fruit and vegetable extracts, enzymes. Things that are so important for your skin, but we don't know about because we're young."

The teenager continued to tell the publication that that many young people, including herself, don't relate with beauty terms like "anti-aging" and "depuffing," adding that her generation "needs to know more." Millie also touched on her struggle to handle online criticism and trolling and admitted she prefers to communicate with her fans through blog posts on her beauty brand's website.
