Adam Collard admits making mistake at the start of relationship with Laura Woods
Adam Collard has opened up about the mistake he made when trying to woo Laura Woods at the beginning of their romance.
Ever since stepping into the spotlight on Love Island 2018, the 27-year-old has never been shy about his relationships. After being dumped from series four of the ITV reality show alongside partner Darylle Sargeant, he took another shot at finding a soulmate by signing up for Celebs Go Dating. He also returned to Love Island in 2022 as a 'bombshell' addition, but would again be eliminated from the Mallorca villa, this time just two days before the final .
After a long spell of casual dating, the professional trainer appears to have finally found a real connection with TV presenter Laura Woods. Adam has reportedly been dating the 36-year-old since September, after an admittedly rocky start to their courtship.
"The first time we met, I’ll hold my hands up," he told the Sun. "I did DM her first and got a reply but then nothing ever happened." Their dialogue sparked up again, however, when Laura confronted him over his failure to respond to her message.
"Then she called us out for basically leaving her on read," he explained. "It’s hard to meet people, isn’t it? I’m from Newcastle and eventually we met up, and then went on a very undercover date, and obviously what comes out in the press, comes out in the press, but it’s not always the full story."
Love Island's Haris spills on unaired row between Zara and TanyelAdam also hinted that he's nervous about losing Laura, adding, "I really like her, so I don’t want to jinx it."
In July, Laura revealed she'd rejoined the dating scene after breaking up with her boyfriend of eight years, England rugby player Alex Corbisiero. She and Adam went Instagram official earlier this month after the sports TV presenter posted a handful of intimate photos of the couple on her public account. She later deleted the snaps, for reasons that remain unknown. Laura has previously revealed she struggles with sharing personal information online, telling Aimee Fuller on the Monday Mile podcast that the idea of exposing her private life to the world "fills me with dread." She also appeared to address the removal of her loved-up pictures with Adam, referring to a "slight error" she had made on her profile.
'I am really private…I only show you what I'm comfortable showing you, I like to keep it like that as much as possible," she explained. "So, I made a slight error, you know when you upload something to your main feed that's meant to be like close friends?
"I didn't even know I could do that to be fair, but I did, and let me tell you how much that turns me inside out, for people to see anything private about me and a relationship, is basically what it is.
"For anyone to see that part of me fills me with dread. It sounds like it's a bad thing but only because I associate social media and relationships in a bad way. I'm almost nothing good can come from sharing.
"Maybe I've learned, maybe it's something historic, I've never thought it was a good idea to share them."
