Kurt Cobain's daughter weds Tony Hawk's son - as a music icon attends big day

Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, had wed Tony Hawk's son Riley Hawk.

The couple tied the knot earlier this month on October 7 in Los Angeles after obtaining a marriage license in September in San Diego County. The loved-up couple, who started dating back in 2021, had a very special guest perform the ceremony.

According to new documents, the wedding was performed by REM frontman Michael Stipe. The 63-year-old is Frances' godfather, while her godmother is Drew Barrymore.

While the marriage documents were obtained by TMZ, the newlyweds are yet to post about their big day. Frances' marriage to Riley is her second, while it's the first time he has said 'I do'. Frances and Riley were first linked romantically in early 2021 when pictures started circling of them out for dinner with his parents, Tony Hawk and Catherine Goodman.

Frances was married to musician Isaiah Silva for less than two years before filing for divorce from him in March 2016. Their relationship ended bitterly as they became locked in a dispute over one of the guitars belonging to Frances' late father, who died in April 1994 from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

Isaiah ended up with the guitar after his divorce from Frances was settled. He claims to have been given the guitar as a wedding present, but Frances maintains that she never meant to gift the instrument to her husband.

"Kurt would not want this and Courtney will not allow any of it," a source close to the family told Page Six. They added: "Frances and the family are prepared to fight with a fury of unprecedented legal force and they will prevail."

In 2019, Frances' mother, Courtney Love requested that Isaiah undergo a psychiatric evaluation. The psychiatric evaluation will be part of the legal battle and is the start of Courtney and Frances' attempt to show Isaiah has a "frightening obsession" with Kurt and allegedly believes he is a "reincarnation" of the musician.
