Big Brother's Kate Lawler now - new career and friendship with Alison Hammond

Kate Lawler was crowned the winner of the third series of Big Brother 21 years ago and made history by becoming the first woman to be crowned victorious in the show. Since her epic win, Kate's life has dramatically changed with a brand new career and some very close celebrity friendships.

During Kate's time on the show she shared the house with TV presenter and This Morning legend Alison Hammond. The two have remained friends after all these years, with Kate revealing in 2020 that she was in a Whatsapp group with the ITV presenter and former co-stars. But just last month audiences of the popular ITV daytime show This Morning witnessed an awkward encounter between the two former housemates.

After a discussion about Big Brother returning, Alison asked Kate if she was attending the National Television Awards to which Kate replied: "No babes, we’ve had this conversation already. I didn’t get an invite. I will be watching it at home on the telly with a bucket of popcorn.”

"You can be my plus one. You can come," Alison joked at Kate's answer. When cameras cut back to Alison and Holly Willoughby, she said: "Well, that was awkward, wasn’t it? Little bit awks. I didn’t realise she wasn’t invited. I’m going to have to sort this out. I’ll pull some strings, don’t you worry about it. I’ll sort this out," Alison added.

Life after Big Brother changed dramatically after she won and just two months after she was crowned champ, Kate had landed a DJ job on Capital FM. She then co-presented Channel 4 breakfast TV show. The star also joined Love Island 2, the original of the now Love Island in 2006 as a new arrival and modelled for Ann Summers before joining Virgin Radio in 2013. She was on the radio for 10 years until the network shut down this year.

Kate, like so many others, was meant to marry before Covid, but was forced to change her plans. It was here that Kate and partner Martin 'Boj' Bojitos, 39, planned to go for a baby, welcoming their daughter Noa in 2021. Kate was diagonsed with post natal depression and admitted that once she came 'close to shaking her newborn baby.' She told The Sun: 'I remember rushing into the bedroom and literally screaming: "I can’t do this any more!" and I put Noa down on the bed firmly, in a way that made me realise I was so close to shaking her, and I ran upstairs to our loft, so scared at what I’d nearly done.'

Last year, the mum won an award at The GLOMAMA Awards for 'Favourite New Mama'. The GLOMAMA Awards are the people’s choice awards that celebrate the achievements of mothers on social media. Accepting the award she said: "It is the hardest thing I have ever done, it is challenging, it is tough but it is so rewarding and it’s hilarious."
