Wrexham fans react as Rob McElhenney trolls Ryan Reynolds with Chris Pratt

Wrexham fans have weighed in after the club's co-owner Rob McElhenney unveiled his latest plan to celebrate Ryan Reyonolds' birthday.

The duo have made a tradition of celebrating each other's birthdays in a unique fashion, to which the 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' actor has now gone above and beyond as shown via his recent social media post. For Reynolds' 47th birthday, McElhenney enlisted the help of actor Chris Pratt and posted a video to his 1.1 million followers on Twitter, saying: "Happy birthday, @VancityReynolds. This year I had to bring in an actual superhero... @prattprattpratt."

The video goes on to show a meeting between the acting duo to which Rob unveils his latest plan. Filmed in the style of 'Parks and Recreation,' a show which Pratt starred in, Rob reveals his plan to update the site of the old Wrexham Hippodrome and turn it into a park.

Speaking in the video over computer generated images, Rob revealed: "We'll have open, green spaces, pop-up restaurants, we'll have movie screenings, there'll be actual green lanterns," he said in reference to Reynolds' 2011 film 'Green Lantern.' The clip goes on to add that the park will feature a statue that "may or may not look like Ryan," before concluding with: "Happy birthday Ryan, thanks Chris. Reacting to the clip, Wrexham fans were pleased with the plans to create a new green space. "Oooooo now that’s a step up from last year, kudos," one user posted on X. "Happy birthday Ryan!! @VancityReynoldsThank you for all that you do," a grateful fan posted, with another adding: "Happy birthday big man it’ll come a day later but hopefully the team will give you their present at home tomorrow night, Coyr." One fan was keen to remind Rob of his previous celebrations which got the club's co-owner into hot water. "At least this can't cause the drama that the blimp did," they posted.

The blimp, which was dubbed the 'Ryan Rodney Reynolds Memorial Blimp,' was unveiled at Wrexham's The Racecourse stadium which featured an image of Reynolds during his role in the film Deadpool. However, in a recent episode of the 'Welcome to Wrexham' docuseries that follows the club's progress, the incident almost landed the actor in serious trouble with regards to Welsh aviation laws.

Previous attempts to celebrate each other's birthday's have included a song from Reynolds which details how to pronounce McElhenney, and a 'memorial urinal' that is located in the club's stadium. Outside of the club's ownership, Wrexham have enjoyed a successful season so far in League Two following their recent promotion from the National League. Phil Parkinson's side currently sit fourth in the table with six wins, six defeats and two draws so far.

The club's latest result saw them earn a draw against Bradford City following a late equalising goal to cancel out Paul Mullin's strike. The club are next in action when they face Sutton United on Tuesday night where they could climb up to second in the league table, just two points behind leaders Stockport.
