Vera says she eats plenty of junk food

Vera Wang has given away some of the secrets to her youthful appearance at the age of 74.

The popular wedding dress designer has opened up about how she maintains her toned figure and flawless complexion. Vera stepped out to the DKMS Gala in NYC on Thursday and told Page Six how she doesn't deprive herself of junk food.

She said: "I do eat McDonald's, absolutely, I order it every day, like two weeks on it, and then I’ll change." She also admitted to enjoying Dunkin' Donuts adding: "I like the cream-filled, sugar-coated donut. It’s like a jelly donut, but it’s cream inside, vanilla cream. I like the pink with sprinkles, too."

The fashion icon - who previously admitted that the key to her youthfulness included "work, sleep, a vodka cocktail and not much sun," - also credited her work life for keeping her young. She explained: "Basically, I've worked my whole life, so it's really been about work. I think work keeps you young and stimulated. I work very long hours, I’ve raised two daughters. I think keeping busy is the best antidote for good health."

While Vera maintains her appearance she did confirm that she isn't "preoccupied" by her looks and is more concerned about the effects of aging on her physical ability.

She told Mail Online: "I think what happens sometimes as you age... I'm more frightened about physical disabilities... not all this. I'm not totally preoccupied with how I look. I love my work, and I'm very passionate about my work, my friends, my daughters... I mean, I have a very full life."

Back in April Vera elaborated on her casual lifestyle to People telling them: "One of the things I am known to like to do is have a vodka cocktail. There's no question about that, I do. I have a vodka at some point after five or six o'clock, towards seven."

She also admitted that she fears being "pigeonholed" as people begin to focus more on her age and appearance. She said: "I’m confronted with a bit of a moment now where so much has been said about my aging. I just hope that it doesn’t supersede my work. It brings up the issue of ageism, and I don’t want to be pigeonholed."
