Amanda Abbington's partner shares cryptic post amid mysterious Strictly absence

Amanda Abbington's partner Jonathan Goodwin has posted a cryptic message on his social media page after the Strictly Come Dancing star was forced to pull out of the live show over the weekend.

The 49-year-old actress' absence from the BBC dancing competition was announced by Janette Manrara and her partner Giovanni Pernice on Friday's episode of It Takes Two. She said: "We have some breaking news, unfortunately due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week. Amanda we hope you get well soon my love, sending you all the best wishes!"

A representative for Strictly told The Mirror in a further statement: "Due to medical reasons Amanda Abbington will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week."

No further comment on Amanda's reason for having to skip this weekend's programme was made as fans have shared concerns and sent well-wishes to the star.

Today Britain's Got Talent daredevil Jonathan, who began dating Amanda in 2021, posted a photo of himself looking at his reflection in a mirror on his Instagram story and penned a cryptic message on top. He wrote: "We can be so hard on ourselves...be our own worst critics... but before you judge yourself..."

Jonathan then added: "Make sure your mirror is clean", in an apparent nod to the dust seen on the mirror but it could also be interpreted as a thought-provoking post, too. The BGT star's post comes after Amanda shared a cryptic post on Saturday morning.

The actress took to her Instagram Stories to share a quote from late actor Robin Williams, originally posted by an account called @positiveminds011. Across an image of the Mrs Doubtfire star, the quote reads: "People don't fake depression... they fake being okay. Remember that. Be kind."

Meanwhile, fans have flooded social media with well-wishes for the star. "Get better soon Amanda! Such a shame was looking forward to her Cha Cha this weekend. Sending her all the best. #Strictly #ItTakesTwo," another wrote. Someone else added: "Absolutely gutted, her and Giovanni are my faves so gonna be quite boring for me tomorrow."

Professional dancer Giovanni was spotted on the live broadcast on Saturday evening, which left fans surprised. And during the programme, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman provided an update on Amanda with fans.

Speaking on the series, Claudia told viewers: "Now as you may have noticed Amanda and Giovanni are missing from line-up. Due to medical reasons Amanda is unable to perform this week." Tess then explained: "As per the rules of the competition she has been given a bye.

"All being well she will return to the ballroom next week. Amanda we are all sending you lots of love." Claudia added: "Lots of love to you."
