Love Island star Zara McDermott has been a fixture on reality TV ever since she burst onto the scene in 2018. From Made In Chelsea to The X Factor: Celebrity, Zara has kept her fans entertained with on-screen antics.

But before all the glitz and glamour, Zara, 26, was a government policy advisor for the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the Department of Education.

Zara made her Love Island debut in the fourth series of the show, entering the villa as a bombshell on Day 15. It wasn't long before she set her sights on Adam Collard, and the two coupled up just five days later leaving his previous love interest, Rosie Williams, devastated.

By that point, many viewers had concerns about Adam's bad boy reputation and his enthusiasm for moving from woman to woman on the show. And his breakup chat was Rosie sparked a national outcry why he was accused of smirking in the face of her tears.

Despite his reputation, Zara fell for Adam, prompting tears and a fiery confrontation in the villa. Their on-screen romance was short-lived, however, as Zara was voted off the show after just 10 days.

The couple's relationship didn't last outside the villa either, as they split up eight months after the show ended. In a statement announcing their break up, Zara expressed her heartbreak and love for Adam, saying that she had tried her best to make their relationship work.

Zara said: "I am heartbroken to announce that Adam and I have parted ways. I love him very much and will always have a special place in my heart for him and our time spent together.

"I have tried so hard to be the best person I can possibly be and to make it work. Sometimes in life, you just aren't enough for someone; no matter what you do for them or how much you try to be."

But Zara soon moved on to another reality TV star, Made In Chelsea's Sam Thompson. The couple first got together in 2019 while Sam was still in a relationship with fellow MIC cast member Sophie Habboo. However, it wasn't long before Zara and Sam became official, and Zara soon joined the E4 reality show's cast.

But their relationship hit a rough patch in late 2019 when rumours began circulating that Zara had cheated on Sam with music boss Brahim Fouradi while competing on X-Factor: Celebrity. Zara initially denied the allegations but later posted a heartfelt confessional message on social media in October 2020 when news of the affair became public.

The couple's emotional one-to-one conversation was played out on screen in an episode of Made in Chelsea, in which Zara begged Sam for forgiveness. But since, the couple have gotten back together and are now inseparable.

They have had their fair share of ups and downs, but they've always managed to work through their issues and move forward as a couple. However, she admitted that Sam won't always be there to cheer her on on Strictly because she's banned him from the audience.

During a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain with her Strictly Come Dancing partner, Graziano Di Prima, Zara spilled the beans on the reason behind Sam's ban. Speaking to hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid, Zara explained that she only receives two tickets per performance and has to distribute them among her friends and family.

She said: "I have got all my family and friends on rotas because I want everyone to come and see me. You never know which week is going to be your last."

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday from 6.20pm on BBC One.
