Dancing On Ice star quits ITV show after 15 series over 17 years
Dancing On Ice professional skater Matt Evers has revealed he will not be returning to the ITV series next year. The professional skater issued a heartfelt statement to fans today and shared the news he has quit the star-studded skating competition after 17 years and 15 series.
The 47-year-old became part of the first same-sex dancing duo on the programme with Ian 'H' Watkins. Other previous partners of his include Suzanne Shaw, with whom he won the show back in season three.
Following news of his departure, a spokeswoman for Dancing On Ice said: "Matt has been a huge part of the show from the very first series creating some of the show's iconic moments. From performing the first ever headbanger on the very first show with partner Bonnie Langford, storming to victory with partner Suzanne Shaw in season three and performing in our first ever same sex couple with Ian 'H' Watkins on season 12.

In a statement to The Sun, Matt added: "I've had some incredible partners over the years and we have created some fantastic TV moments! I mean who can forget that fall from Gemma, or the wardrobe malfunction from Pamela!"
He went on to thank his "leading ladies" and said that he will miss everyone who works on the show. Matt added that he wrote his statement from LA but was set to return to the UK soon.

Matt went on to say that he will be tuning in to the next series of the show and will be "honest" about his opinions. It comes as a number of celebrities have already signed up to get their skates on.
They include boxer Ricky Hatton, actress Claire Sweeney, S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt and Love Island contestant Amber Davies. Also set for the line up is Made In Chelsea star Miles Nazaire, with others rumoured to be taking part including ex-Corrie star Ryan Thomas.
And one star who was set to appear on the next series has since pulled out of the competition. Stephen Webb, who previously appeared on Channel 4's Gogglebox, sustained an injury during his training for the show.
He was announced as the seventh contestant on the show just days ago. And following the news of his early departure, a spokesperson for Dancing On Ice said that he will remain "part of the family." They said: "Stephen Lustig-Webb has had to withdraw from the show due an injury he sustained to his ankle during training. He is still very much a part of the Dancing On Ice family, we will be helping to support Stephen and we wish him well with his recovery."
Dancing on Ice will return in 2024 and is set to air for nine weeks.
