Patrick Stewart fat-shamed James Corden and his 'belly' in mortifying awards row
Sir Patrick Stewart once found himself embroiled in a toe-curling clash with Gavin and Stacey's James Corden during an awards ceremony. The Star Trek actor shocked onlookers when he sparked a mortifying 'fat-shaming' spat with the television presenter while handing out an award on stage.
In 2010, James hosted the Glamour Women of the Year event in front of an audience of showbiz names, including Cheryl, Billie Piper and Lily Allen. The drama unfolded when theatre veteran Patrick got up on stage to present a gong for Film Actress of the Year and criticised James' hosting techniques.

He then accused the comedy star of standing at the back of the stage with his hands in his pocket looking like 'he wished he could be anywhere but here' when winners came up to collect their gongs.
"Oh you couldn't be more wrong sir, you couldn't be more wrong," a clearly offended James hit back before he continued, "But when you come up and present an award, just f***ing get on with it." Things took a turn for the worse when Patrick got personal and proceeded to body shame James.
He told the comic: "From where I was sitting, I could see your belly. And that was from over there, at the back of the room." With his arms folded, James leaned in front of Patrick's face and countered: "Sorry, I'm waiting for the punchline. Go on... You could see my belly... and we can all see you dying [on stage] right now. Let's go for it."

The pair appear to have buried the hatchet with Sir Patrick appearing on the Late Late Show (The Late Late Show with James Corden/Youtube)As the tension mounted, Patrick retaliated, referencing one of James' earlier jokes about fancying heart-throb Nick Jonas. "Do you want one more?" he continued to the astounded audience. "If you fancy one of the Jonas Brothers, cover your belly." James then presented the gong to Avatar star Zoe Saldana, who said: "I like your belly."
Spurred on, James said, "I feel bad for people who haven't seen my belly," and lifted his T-shirt and showed off his tummy to huge applause before throwing one more barb. "OK can we get a taxi ready please. The old man's going home," James sniped. The pair appear to have patched things up in recent years, with Patrick appearing on James' Late Late Show this year.
The actor featured as a guest on the CBS talk show in April alongside Mila Kunis ahead of the final episode of the programme. Footage shared on Twitter showed Patrick arriving into the studio, where he was greeted by James. The pair embraced in a hug at one point ahead of the interview. During the show, Patrick spoke about his life and even made a comparison between himself and James about them both having defied expectations in their respective careers.
