A Citibank worker has been fired for saying it was "no wonder Hitler wanted them dead" in sickening antisemitic comments amid the Israel-Gaza war.

Nozima Husainova, 25, sparked outrage with the remark which she posted on her now-deleted Instagram page and has now been fired from her job, with Citibank branding her words "revolting".

Husainova, who studied Finance at Brooklyn College, wrote the comment on an Instagram story as she shared another post about the bombing of a hospital in Gaza. Below her shared post, she wrote: "No wonder why Hitler wanted to get rid of them all" complete with a smiley face emoji.

The sickening comment in reference to Hitler's murder of millions of Jews during the Holocaust quickly attracted the attention of other social media users. Customers accused Citibank of tolerating "unbridled anti-Semitism" and threatened a boycott.

Daniel S Levy wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Hey Citi, does your commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion include nazis?" - while Marian Kruss wrote: "What does it say about Citi. This is NOT inclusiveness and your organization needs to fire her."

Lenny Luchese. added: "Where can I send a complaint about one of your employees, Nozima Husainova, praising Hitler's extermination of Jews. Or does Citi condone her words? Vile and despicable." In a tweet the bank said: "We are investigating this matter and taking appropriate disciplinary action, We strongly condemn antisemitism and other hate speech", reports the Mail Online.

After majoring in finance in June 2021, Husainova was reportedly in her second year with the Wall Street bank whose parent company Citigroup employs 240,000 people across the world. The outrage comes after a number of CEOs warned they would not employ students who had blamed Israel for the Hamas terror attack that took 1,400 lives.

A spokesman for Citi branded Husainova's comments as 'revolting' and said hate speech would not be tolerated in their bank, adding "We terminated the employment of the person who made the revolting antisemitic comment on social media. We condemn antisemitism and all hate speech and do not tolerate it in our bank."

Horrifying images show the devastation left by a blast at a hospital in Gaza City which has killed an estimated 500 people. The strike hit the Ahli Arab hospital in the city on Tuesday as conflict with Israel edges towards a pinnacle. Hamas initially blamed Israel for the explosion, although a later recording released shows militants agreeing that the rocket had been a misfire from another Palestinian militant group.

Doctors said it was too early to confirm the death toll as there were "so many body parts that no one can really tell". Images showing the aftermath of the strike show covered bodies lined up as people identify their missing loved ones. In one moving image, one medic in scrubs cries on the street outside next to one of the hospital's doorsteps covered in blood.
