Super Mario Bros. Wonder is out tomorrow. Here's exactly when you can start playing the brand-new Super Mario adventure

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is almost upon us, and following The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Pikmin 4 earlier this year, it looks like Nintendo has another game-of-the-year contender on its hands. In our 5/5 review, written by Scott McCrae, we praised the game's "inventive gameplay tweaks", and "absolutely gorgeous visuals and animation", before concluding that "Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the best 2D Mario since the SNES era, and a strong contender for the best one yet."

Super Mario Bros. Wonder marks the return of 2D Mario for the first time since New Super Mario Bros U, which launched back in 2012. The game features 12 playable characters, including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad and Daisy, as well as the brand new Badge mechanic which allows you to change up your character's core move set with some brand new skills like a grappling hook or crouching high jump. And of course, the titular Wonder Flowers which remix every level with a surprising result.

Super Mario Bros Wonder launch time

Super Mario Bros. Wonder will launch at midnight in your region, which means it will become available to play at 12am BST / 12am EDT on Friday, October 20, or 9pm PDT on Thursday, October 19. According to the Nintendo Support page, digital Nintendo Switch games that are also available physically will become available at 9pm PDT the day prior to release, this way, everyone in the US will be able to play the game at the exact same time.

If you've ordered a physical copy of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, sadly, you're at the mercy of whoever delivers your post. You could end up getting it a day early, a day late, or right on time.

Super Mario Bros Wonder file size and preload

Super Mario Bros. Wonder's file size is an extremely reasonable 3.5GB, and you can preload the game right now so you can have access to it as soon as it launches. However, it's no big deal if you don't pre-order considering how small the file size is.
