Carlos Tevez had to have 10 stitches put into his head after fainting in his bathroom and falling over.

Tevez is currently in charge of Club Atletico Independiente, who are top of the Argentine Primera Division. It is only his second job in management, having had a five-month spell as boss of Rosario Central last year.

But while things have been going well on the pitch, Tevez was forced to miss training on Wednesday after suffering an accident at home. The 39-year-old had been left frustrated after his side were held to a goalless draw by mid-table Argentinos Juniors on Sunday.

After returning home, ESPN reported that Tevez fell in his bathroom after fainting. The Independiente boss hit his head after falling and was taken to hospital, where the wound was stitched up.

According to Ole, Tevez experienced a bout of 'dizziness', before hitting his left browbone after fainting. The amount of blood from the wound meant that he had to 'urgently' go to a hospital near his home.

The cut on his head is said to have been 'significant' and forced him to miss training, which was instead led by his coaching staff. He was soon discharged though and was back in the dugout to see his side thrash Club Atletico Barracas Central.

Goals from Matias Gimenez Rojas, Lucas Gonzalez and Braian Martinez were enough to secure the three points for Independiente. And Tevez was proud to see his side overcome his temporary absence to claim the dominant win.

"I'm fine, it was just a blow I had last night, I'm with the team, which is what I want," he said when asked about his injury after the game. "Independiente played a very good game in all aspects, we are looking for an identity and that makes us all go on the same side.

"We are excited and I think it is important that the boys understand that this is what the fan wants to see. Tomorrow we will think about recovering players and only on Saturday we will put our minds on the game against River.

"I am going to take it with the same seriousness that I did until now. Surely Santiago (Toloza) will start working with us tomorrow, but he will have to get well physically and he is going to have to work a lot.

"It's important to keep your feet on the ground , for me the championship is just beginning. We must not forget that 2 or 3 months ago the boys were resisted by the people and, even though we are already in the final stretch, it can weigh on the course of the year.

"I have to be attentive to that. Let the people sing for being a champion generates enthusiasm in me, I wake up thinking about Independiente and how to do things well to continue improving."
