Madonna is reportedly in advanced talks to take to the stage at Glastonbury next year for the first time.

The iconic singer is currently wowing her fans with her 78-show tour which wraps up next April, leaving her plenty of time to prepare for the renowned festival. The Queen of Pop's team are currently plotting a way to make Madonna's set one of the most iconic Glastonbury has seen.

After returning to the stage with her epic tour, Glastonbury boss Emily Eavis, the daughter of the festival's founder Michael Eavis, shared her love for Madonna on Instagram. She posted a photo from the pop superstar's 'The Celebration Tour', which opened at London's The O2 Arena on Saturday.

Emily captioned the post: "She's back! Incredible." Fans were left convinced this hint confirms Madonna will be headlining as one commented: “Well that’s a massive hint…,” while another wrote: “Sunday night slot is looking BOOKED!”

“Negotiations are well underway between Glasto organiser Emily Eavis and Madonna’s manager Guy O’Seary. Both teams are keen to make it happen and striking a deal shouldn’t be a problem," a source told The Sun.

“Emily was blown away watching Madonna perform in London and is desperate to get her on the Pyramid Stage next year.” Glastonbury has previously faced criticism after this year's festival was headlined by only male acts.

Elton John, Arctic Monkeys and Guns N' Roses topped the bill this year, but Emily teased that next year could see two female artists headline. She said: “This year, we did have a female headliner, and she unfortunately had to pull out . . . it changes all the time.

"But next year it's looking like we’ve got two female headliners, so fingers crossed.” Taylor Swift was believed to have been the female headliner in question, who was forced to pull out over a change of plans.

Bookmakers have also tipped Coldplay to return to Glastonbury for a fifth time, with the band having a convenient gap in its summer 2024 European tour. Dua Lipa is also heavily rumoured to be in talks alongside Harry Styles and Rihanna.

Glastonbury will take place from June 26 to 30, 2024 and tickets go on sale next month.
