Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has paid a gushing tribute to her co-star Shayne Ward as he debuts new hair do.

The former Corrie actress, who is best known for her role as Eva Price in the ITV soap, starred alongside Shayne as he played her on-screen boyfriend Aidan Connor. They were involved in many dramatic storylines over the years but things came to an end when Aidan ended his life in 2018. However, Catherine and Shayne have reunited once more in a new Channel 5 drama.

The friends and co-stars have worked together on The Good Ship Murder. It follows police detective Jack Grayling who goes on a Mediterranean cruise ship to pursue his dream of becoming a cabaret singer. Yet he isn't able to leave his past behind as he is forced to work with Catherine's character, First Officer Kate Woods. They end up investigating a series of murders together.

Catherine paid a gushing tribute to Shayne as he celebrated his birthday. She shared snaps from their time together on Coronation Street as well as behind the scenes pics of their new programme. The actress gushed: "Happy Birthday to this absolute star!!! The second video might be my fave memory ever (name the film!) One of the kindest, funniest, humble, incredibly talented souls you could wish to meet!! So lucky to call you my friend @shaynetward.

"Thankyou for making my laugh on a daily basis! Thanks for always doing Disney sketches up on request and thanks for being a human karaoke machine to us all when we need a tune belting out! Have the best time! Loads of love and life jackets xx" Among the pics shared by Catherine, Shayne looked very different as he showed off his longer locks.

Shane, who has always shaved his head, has now grown out his dark hair. Earlier this week he appeared on This Morning and left fans stunned with his new look. Admitting his new look also confused The Good Ship Murder's crew and co-stars, Shayne said: "Nobody recognised me [while filming] because of my hair, because I used to have a bald head."

Host Alison Hammond gushed she "loved" the singer's new look, but viewers weren't convinced with some saying Shayne looked like a extra from period drama, Bridgerton. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one said: "Shayne looks so different to his Aidan on Corrie days," while a third suggested: "Could be a double for Bridgerton." The X Factor singer had been enjoying a break from the spotlight after getting engaged to former Hollyoaks star Sophie Austin.

The couple share six-year-old daughter Willow May and son Reign Thomas Austin, who turned one in June. Yet Shayne is keeping busy as The Mirror exclusively revealed Shayne is ready to return to music and impress his kids. He has been laying down tracks in the studio and plans to launch a comeback tour. Earlier this year, he shared: "This year is going to be a big year for me. I’m releasing new music, headlining my first solo tour in 11 years and starring in my first lead role in a big TV series.

"It just feels like now is the right time to focus on my music career and show people what I have been working on. I see it as more of a return than a comeback. I’m 39 this year and in such a beautiful place – I am engaged to an incredible woman and have two beautiful kids. I want them to see me on stage and to see what Daddy can do."
