Strictly's Bobby Brazier 'cherishing' Dianne as she fights mystery 'problems'

Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell had viewers worried on Saturday night after appearing to fight back tears following an electric Davie Bowie-inspired staccato tango. Apparently struggling to contain her emotions while chatting with Claudia Winkleman, the 34-year-old praised dance partner Bobby Brazier for his support, declaring "He has just been a massive rock this week, so thank you."

It was at this point that Dianne's voice wobbled, as she leaned into Bobby's chest and hugged him close. In an Instagram post shared after the teary episode, Bobby expressed affection for "big sister" Dianne, writing: "My dear coach to learn from, friend to feel it all beside and big sister to drive loopy". Showing similar sentiments, Dianne replied: "Me bestie. So proud of you love from COACH."

A number of fans have since expressed concern about the duo's demeanour, remarking that they didn't seem like their "usual happy selves". Now a body language expert has come forward with their thoughts on Dianne and Bobby's interactions on Saturday night, remarking that Bobby appears to want to "protect and cherish" Dianne as she faces 'problems'.

Leading body language and communication expert Judi James told the Mirror: "This is an authentic and slightly off-brand display of emotions as Dianne seems to hint at problems behind the scenes here in a way that almost flirts with the viewers' interest but without coming up with the goods in terms of what has prompted her tears and her meaningful comment.

"The couple's body language also looks oddly out of synch. When Bobby pulls Dianne in for a hug she appears embarrassed and keen to separate but then she in turn hugs him, looking clingy and affectionate." Turning her attention to Bobby's mannerisms, Judi noted that the 20-year-old appears to have struggled with the acting required for this particular dance, noting that he was "looking at the floor as he regurgitates the aggressive snarl he's been required to perform."

Judi explained: "His teeth look clenched at this point to suggest tense emotions and he hints it triggered him by 'bringing all these emotions up'. He seems to feel he needs to apologise to Dianne and to protect and cherish her, as he places one hand tenderly around her face and pulls her head in to hug her protectively." According to Judi, Diane's response to this gesture would suggest "awkwardness and embarrassment", with her rigid smile and raised chin being tell-tale signs of discomfort.

Although Dianne did put her arm around Bobby's waist, Judi noticed that she also seemed to "pull away quickly". With this in mind, Judi continued: "But then it's her turn as she says he's 'been a massive rock', which is wording that would suggest someone had been strong for someone else, which would hint Diane has some problems of her own. Placing a hand on Bobby’s ribs she shakes him slightly and when she says 'thank you', which would also imply he's been offering her strength and help during the week, which is usually the pro dancer's job during a Strictly run, her voice breaks with tears as she now hugs into Bobby."

She concluded: "A display like this is pretty unprecedented on a show like this and Diane shouldn't be surprised if it has drawn interest and speculation. It's supposed to be the celebrities having the dramas and emotional crises while the pro dancers are there to be their 'rock' and to support them emotionally, not the other way around."
