Heidi Klum looks unrecognisable in unearthed modelling competition snaps.

The 50-year-old took to her social media to share the collection of photos from 1992. The star was taking part in a modelling competition at the time which is why she had an at-home photoshoot.

She told followers that her mum had found a box of old photos where they discovered the pics from early on in her career. Heidi wrote: "Similar to how I look at photos and videos of models for GNTM, these photos were my application photos for my model competition in 1992. My mom brought me a box of lots of old pictures out of the basement."

The photos featured Heidi posing in a number of positions as she wore different swimsuits. She put on her best model face in most of the snaps but also smiled for the camera in some.

The star explained that she uses the same method to take pictures of contestants on Germany’s Next Top Model. The old pics are from when Heidi took part in the national talent search when she was just 19 years old after being persuaded to attend the contest by her friend.

After she sent the sample pics in, Heidi went on to win the April contest out of 25,000 contestants back in the 90s, before she rose to international fame.

She went on to sign a huge contract with Metropolitan Models New York before appearing on the cover of Mirabella magazine at aged 21. She then featured in Vogue, ELLE, and Marie Claire, before walking the Victoria’s Secret runway as one of the original Angels.

Heidi's daughter has followed in her mum's footsteps, starting her own modelling career on the cover of Vogue Germany, at the same age of her mum at 19. Heidi had her daughter Leni with 73-year-old billionaire Flavio Briatore. She is a mum to Henry, 17, Johan, 16 and 13-year-old Lou.

Leni and Heidi received backlash when they posed in lingerie together. The campaign took place last year for the brand Intimissimi but the photos later resurfaced in May with fans bashing the photoshoot for being uncomfortable and "inappropriate."

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Heidi spoke out about the lingerie shoot telling the news outlet: "To do photoshoots together with her [Leni] and just to see how she's just very comfortable and also comfortable around me even when we're doing underwear shoots or something like that." She added: "It makes me proud that my daughter is super comfortable in her skin also in front of me and around me because not every kid is in the world."
