Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer was left blindsided when her marriage with fellow Strictly star Kevin Clifton broke down.

The professional dancer, 41, was left even more surprised when, shortly after, Kevin entered into a new relationship with TV star Stacey Dooley, after the pair met when she took part in the BBC One competition in 2018. Kevin and Karen's three-year marriage broke down the same year that Stacey took part in the show.

And romance rumours about Kevin and Stacey, who he was paired with on the show that year, quickly began flying as fans feared the worst about the dreaded Strictly curse. Although the rumour mill was going crazy at the time as fans speculated there was undeniable chemistry between the pair, Kevin and Stacey denied all along that there was anything romantic going on between them. That was before their relationship status became known after they lifted the Glitterball trophy together.

After the pair unveiled their romance, Karen remained tight-lipped about the situation she found herself in for some time. However, a number of months on from Kevin and Stacey going official with their relationship, Karen revealed that Kevin didn't tell her anything about his new relationship with the documentary maker – despite them remaining close after their marriage split.

"I don’t really know anything about that. When we go in [to rehearsals] we’re literally going crazy with all the routines. But you know what he looks extremely happy, so I’m happy that he’s happy," she told FUBAR Radio in 2019.

At the time, Karen opened up about working alongside her ex Kevin, saying it's not as awkward as people may think. She said: "Most people think that we’d be like ‘oh I don’t like it’, but no. Not at all. We laugh. There is no drama. I don’t like drama baby llama! I’m happy, he’s happy, let’s all be happy."

"I’m so proud of him and all the things he’s been doing lately. For us, it’s never been a problem and it never will be a problem. We’re really cool. We absolutely love working together. We’re dancing together. The nice thing is that we don’t have partners that we are dancing with all the time, we switch partners around, so we all get a feel for everybody else."

While Kevin has since departed the BBC One show, having gone on to welcome a child with Stacey, Karen remains on Strictly Come Dancing. Karen also went on to re-marry, tying the knot with Jordan Wyn-Jones but has been left heartbroken again.

Last week, viewers praised her for putting on a 'brave face' after it was revealed that she and her husband Jordan Wyn-Jones have ended their marriage. The Strictly Come Dancing professional married Jordan in June 2022 but was seen without her wedding ring when she showed up at the Pride of Britain Awards earlier this month.

A source later told The Mirror: "Karen and Jordan have had a tough time in the past few months and decided to split. It's obviously very sad for both of them, but there's no ill-will whatsoever. The split is amicable, and they wish each other the best."

Karen bravely took to the dance floor this weekend after the news went public, performing the American Smooth with Eddie, and putting her personal life on the backburner as she threw herself into the dance.
