Britney Spears has been sharing a series of iconic moments from her career on social media as she gets ready for the release of her memoir.

The chart-topping star is set to tell-all in her bombshell book release, revealing details of not just her personal life but her epic career. On Monday she shared her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2001 where she stunned fans with a rendition of I’m a Slave 4 U with a giant yellow python wrapped around her shoulders.

Admitting she was terrified of the reptile she wrote: “One of my favorite performances was with an albino python. I still remember how scared I felt when I was handed this snake and took the stage. I talked more about this performance and other favorites in my book The Woman in Me. I can’t wait for you to read it on Oct. 24.”

The legendary appearance in 2001 was Britney's third VMAs live show. She had already been on stage with NSYNC in 1999. Meanwhile, in 2000 she was invited to sing her hit debut single Oops!…I Did It Again and the Rolling Stones hit Satisfaction. Then in 2003 she performed alongside Madonna and Christina Aguilera.

The Woman in Me is scheduled for release on October 24. Her publisher has teased the book writing: “Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love - and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last. Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery."

Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher Jennifer Bergstrom told PEOPLE: “I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last.” An excerpt from the book published by People saw Britney explain her motivation in her infamous head shaving back in 2007.

She wrote: “I’d been eyeballed so much growing up. I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body, since I was a teenager. Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back.”

She then discussed how her father and his lawyers were subsequently granted control of her personal life and her finances via a court-ordered conservatorship. She continued: “Under the conservatorship I was made to understand that those days were now over. I had to grow my hair out and get back into shape. I had to go to bed early and take whatever medication they told me to take.”
