Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be "divided" over the prospects of a return to the UK.

The couple have been deciding whether or not they should raise their children - Prince Archie, four and Princess Lilibet, two - Stateside, with only Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland as extended family, or bring them to the UK to be brought up and educated alongside their aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sources revealed that Harry is "very much leading" on the idea of returning to the UK, but Meghan doesn't seem on keen and hasn't shown "any hints she would want to move back, even temporarily, to the UK.."

As the couple work out their new move, we take a look at the six homes they've lived in since they tied the knot in 2018.

Nottingham Cottage

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex once lived in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage in a gated community in central London but Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace wasn't quite the lavish royal home they had in mind. In the fourth episode of their controversial Netflix series Harry & Meghan, the couple moaned about their living conditions.

"As far as people were concerned we were living in a palace," says Harry in the Netflix docuseries. "[But] we were living in a cottage on palace grounds," before Meghan explains: "Kensington Palace sounds very regal, of course it does, it says palace in the name. But Nottingham Cottage was so small."

While it is the smallest abode on the 17th century estate, which is where Harry grew up, it boasts reception rooms designed by Sir Christopher Wren, the architect behind St Paul's Cathedral. Nicknamed 'Nott Cott', the humble abode used to be where Prince William and Princess Kate lived when Prince George was just a baby.

Harry made the cottage his bachelor pad in 2013 after Kate and William moved into the 20-room Apartment 1A inside the palace.

Frogmore House

Tucked inside the grounds of the Royal Family's secret retreat, Frogmore House was the destination for the newlyweds as they fled west London and moved into the 10-bedroom home, near Windsor Castle, to raise a family in a quieter setting. The home has been a favourite royal hideaway for more than 300 years and is home to a royal burial ground.

The Grade II-listed cottage was said to be undergoing a multi-million pound refit when Meghan was pregnant with Archie. Formerly known as Double Garden Cottage, the home is set within Windsor Castle's Home Park and faces the stunning and sprawling grounds of Frogmore House.

The cottage was originally divided into five units which were home to royal staff, but it was transformed into a family home with modern amenities. It's half a mile south of Windsor Castle, the Queen's summer residence, and St George's Chapel, where Harry and Meghan tied the knot in May 2018 as millions around the world watched on TV.

Mille Fleurs

After announcing that they'd be leaving the UK and their duties as royals behind, the couple embarked on a farewell tour of the UK before briefly settling on Vancouver Island.

As they awaited the birth of their first child, Harry and Meghan were living in British Columbia, in a house called Mille Fleurs that was previously owned by a Russian oligarch. The home is set in a 10,000-square-foot estate overlooking the Saanich Inlet, the house itself being right on the waterfront.

The Sussexes’ Canadian home was a mansion with eight bedrooms, a wine room and a double-height living room. It comes with a pizza oven, a 17th-century fireplace imported from France and a “game room with a wet bar”.

Following Archie's birth and according to the Evening Standard, Meghan was spotted in Horth Hill Regional Park walking with her dogs and her baby Archie.

Beverly Ridge Estate

In the six-part Netflix docu-series, producer Tyler Perry spoke out about why he offered the couple his house $15 million mega-mansion in the Beverly Ridge Estate of LA, months after they stepped down from royal duties. Meghan revealed how she reached out to the movie producer she had never met in person - after he sent her a note - and he told her she and Harry could stay at his house.

On arriving in California in March 2020, Tyler kept his word and allowed the Sussexes to stay in his California mansion while they found their own place to stay. In the book, Harry recalls how he and Meghan loved Tyler's house describing it as 'Xanadu'.

In his tell-all in the memoir, Harry recalls rolling a joint at the home, writing: "Then I'd sit on the balcony or the edge of the garden and roll a joint. The house looked down onto a valley, across a hillside thick with frogs.

Netflix mansion

In their controversial docu-series, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex filmed in a mansion that went up for sale in 2022 for a whopping $33.5million (£26.7m). The stunning six-bedroom pad boasts an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub and a bar.

It also has a gym, games room, library and a movie room. The luxury house - built in 2006 - has a regal feel about it including chandeliers and arched windows.

The 13,599 sq ft Mediterranean-style property is set in stunning grounds with palm trees and citrus orchards. It also has a guest house and chicken coop in the garden.

Interviews featured in the home included those with Harry's childhood friend 'Nicky', British historian, writer, broadcaster, presenter and BAFTA-winning film-maker David Olusoga. and Meghan's friend Lucy Fraser. Meghan's former agent Nick Collins was also interviewed against the backdrop as well as her pal Vicky Tsai.

Other star-studded features included Meghan's Suits co-star Abigail Spencer and podcast host Dhru Purohit.

Montecito home

As of today, Meghan and Harry have lived in their nine-bedroom California home for over two years. The Sussexes moved 'in secret' to their £11million mansion in secluded Montecito in July 2020 after officially stepping down as working royals.

Rather than counting the Queen or Prince William and Kate Middleton as neighbours now they live amongst US television royalty, including pals Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres. Meghan says it makes her “feel free” and is “calm and healing” to live in the luxury home in the gated community in Santa Barbara.

In an interview with The Cut, the 42-year-old gushed about her 18,000-square-foot residence, where she lives with Harry, 38, and their children Archie, four, and Lilibet, two. It boasts nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, as well as a tennis court, tea house and two-bedroom guest house.

It also houses a grand piano gifted to the couple by Tyler Perry.
