Sainsbury's insider shares 10 Nectar hacks - including way to get free points
Nectar card holders may be missing out on ways to maximise the points they can earn in Sainsbury’s supermarkets.
Sainsbury’s shoppers get one Nectar point for every £1 spent in stores and online, or for every litre of fuel purchased. You also get points when you shop with other retailers.
Each point is worth 0.5p to spend in Sainsbury's stores - so 100 points are therefore 50p. Or you can spend them at other partner stores, sometimes for a slight boost.
From bonus points each week to discounted prices at Sainsbury’s personalised to each shopper, the experts at Nectar have shared ten hacks to help you get the most out of it.
Alex Naisby, Director of Loyalty & CRM at Nectar said: “At Nectar, we want to help all our customers to get the most out of each and every purchase. Whether it’s picking up bonus points, getting lower prices or taking part in challenges in the app.
UK’s cheapest supermarket is named with up to £26 in savings on a single shop“We’re always looking at ways to refresh offers and provide shoppers with the most value. There's something for everyone, so we want to show our customers all of the ways they can use Nectar to provide a little extra boost to their points and let the savings roll in different and exciting ways.”
Get personalised bonus points
Shoppers can collect exclusive points offers in the Nectar app - for example, some recent promotions we've seen include 60 points on milk worth at least 30p, or 40 points on fruit worth at least 20p. Scroll down and click on "Sainsbury's Offers" in the app, then you'll see your current deals.
You'll need to click and save each deal before you shop and the promotions are refreshed weekly. By using your Sainsbury’s offers, you could collect up to 700 points per week, worth at least £3.50.
Find personalised lower prices
Also in the app is "Your Nectar Prices" which are discounts that are personal to you and based on the things you buy regularly, available through Smartshop. All eligible lower prices will be automatically applied.
Sainsbury's says this could save up to £190 per year.
Win more points after you shop
After shopping with Nectar at Sainsbury’s, you might get a notification come up with a digital scratch card - you'll need to rub this to see if you’ve won any bonus points.
Look out for bonus events
Keep your eyes peeled for bonus points challenges on the Nectar app, like the annual fruit and veg challenge, to boost your points balance and get rewarded for making healthier choices.
Add your Nectar card to your phone wallet
You can add your Nectar card to your smartphone wallet, to make sure you never miss out on points if you've left your physical card at home. You can also track your activity and your points balance all within the Nectar app.
And link it to your online shopping accounts
Make collecting points second nature by linking your Nectar account to your other online shopping accounts. This means you'll automatically pick up points with partner brands.
Nectar isn't just Sainsbury's
Nectar works with around 300 brand partners - including Argos, eBay, Sky and VUE cinemas. Check the app for regularly updated partner offers across every part of daily life, including home, fashion, cosmetics, and travel.
